Chapter 45: Intimidating

Ryzen POV

After fumbling around for a long time, we somehow ended up in the bedroom and snuggled for the rest of the day.

"Hmm... by the way, are you free next week?" he suddenly asked, gently caressing my back.

"Yeah. You know I have a such a flexible schedule." I said with a smile.

He scoffed at what I said before replying.

"I was just thinking, my parents are coming back next week from their United Nations trip. I thought it was good if we have dinner with them... What do you think?" he asked gently.

Meeting the parents? Ah, not bad. This is really a big step. This opportunity is another stepping stone towards my mission.

Quickly, I nodded and smiled at him.

"Fine, let's go and meet your parents." I said gently.

Little did I know, when the day finally came, sudden memories flashed through my mind.

I did see a bit of Lennox's mother before in pictures, and only thought that she looked familiar. To be precise, only faint memories appeared.

Seeing her in person though, I am fully reminded of Millen Yu's memories.

Before, in social events, she would greet Lennox's mother and try to strike up a conversation. However, it seems like Lennox's mother didn't really have a favoured impression on her.

Lennox's mother, Lillian Zevallos, is a known iron-lady because she is strong-willed and passionate about her work. As a diplomat, she has helped many people not only in the country, but also people around the world.

I looked at Lillian Zevallos and she had an intimidating gaze directed at me. Actually, everything about her is so intimidating and fierce. She reminds me of a strict hospital director I once encountered in my original life.

Somehow, I could not help but be nervous so I held Lennox's arm tighter.

Noticing it, Lennox whispered to me quietly in an assuring tone, "It's fine. It's just dinner."

Still, I could not help but feel restless.

Thankfully though, Lennox's father, Riley Zevallos, seems to not be as intimidating as his wife. He had a charming aura just like Lennox.

In fact, now that I think about it, Lennox looks more like his dad rather than his mum.

No wonder Lennox looks attractive, because his parents both look pretty good even with their age. His mum, in particular, looked a bit like the British actress Vivian Leigh.

As we ate our dinner, it was lively because Lennox's dad led the discussions. He was a conversationalist and tried to me make comfortable.

On the other hand, Lennox's mum was a bit quiet and would only nod or give a small smile.

"Son, do you mind if you help me out a bit? I need to talk to you about something." Riley Zevallos suddenly said.

"Okay." Lennox nodded.

Before following his dad who already left from his seat though, he softly whispered into my ear and rubbed my shoulders gently.

"I'll be quick." he murmured quietly.

I only nodded at him. I was too embarrassed to say anything more since I felt Lillian Zevallos' intimidating gaze on me.

The nervous feeling crept up again when Lennox completely disappeared from the dining room. It was only me and his mum.
