~~ A Bit Too Easy ~~

Her other abilities were mostly intact, which was a good sign, except she still couldn't smell. She ripped the cuff off the sleeve of her blouse, rolled it up and used it to staunch the bleeding. She pinched the bridge of her nose and walked over to stand below the ceiling grate. She couldn't see or hear anything above her, how was that possible? Had her captors just left her here to die? No, she couldn't believe that, what would have been the point of restraining her when they could have just killed her?

She had to get out, then she could figure out what was going on. She thought about jumping up to the grate, she'd normally use magic to jump that high and then levitate, but that wasn't an option. She considered Werewolf agility mixed with Vampire strength, both of which should get her up there and help her with the grate. She just had to wait until her nose stopped bleeding, she'd need both hands and no chance of blood getting in her eyes.

It took several minutes but she finally touched her nose to see nothing on her hand. The blood had dried, forming a barrier, for now. L nodded to herself and stared up at the grate, she concentrated while summoning the abilities. She pushed down first and then sprang into the air, she moved at speed and crashed into the grate. It rattled but didn't open, it was the same metal as the cot she'd been laid on, it had no smell and was entirely unfamiliar to L.

She held onto the bars of the grate and extended her claws, she swiped at one of the bars and it left a mark but not quite the breakout L had hoped for. She swiped again, leaving deeper grooves but it was nothing she could actually use to escape. She sighed to herself, this was going to take some time. She began swiping at the bars repeatedly, each time her claws made a deeper cut but it never seemed to be enough.

L was sweating, her nose had started to drip with blood again and she was swearing under her breath by the time she dropped back to the ground. L kicked at the dirt, she had so many abilities and yet somehow she couldn't get out of this place. Her arms ached, her head was sore and she felt a little dizzy, likely from the blood loss.

She sat down on the metal cot to steady herself, lowering her head and attempting to stem the flow of blood. Her knowledge told her her nose was probably broken, she had to realign the cartilage and hope it stopped sooner. She hissed at the pain and her brow creased at the crunching sound it made. She pressed the material to her nose and stared around at her prison.

Someone was keeping her in here for a reason, and it couldn't be anything good. She felt her anger bubbling, she had been on track to find her parents, she had felt just how close she was getting and then all of a sudden she was derailed by who knew what. She'd got the impression Bryce knew what had cornered them but they'd been knocked out before he could warn them of what it was.

L exhaled sharply, she was really starting to believe someone didn't want her to find her parents. Was the universe trying to throw big signs at her? No, she couldn't believe the universe would want this. But if that wasn't the case then she was, as always, left with more questions than answers. She sat for some time, waiting for the bleeding to stop, and let her mind wander through the library of her mind.

There were a few possibilities as to who had captured her; Demons could have, but there's always a smell, L felt like she would know if that were the case. Vampires could have managed it, a lack of sound and a lot of speed would have done it. But L couldn't see a reason for them to do it, much less one that would keep her alive. She pondered the other species; Werewolves, Pixies, Ogres, even the Wyvern, but none made any sense in regards to her current situation. And none of them would have any reason to abduct a Keeper.

L took a deep breath, she wasn't getting anywhere. She checked her nose and found it had stopped bleeding. She could drop the material and resume working at the metal grate. She jumped up, claws out and began hacking at the metal again. She made slow progress and soon she'd cut through one of the bars- only three more to go. L cursed, she just wanted to get through them, one way or another, but which abilities allowed that without using magic?
