(This is a request for the post I made where I asked you guys to give me a character and a word for me to make a oneshot out of! This isn't the best, I know. I kind of felt sluggish yesterday T_T I still hope you like it though!)

To others, falling in love was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to them.

To some, it was the scariest and most heartbreaking thing.

You weren't looking for love. It wasn't a priority, it wasn't something that you thought you needed. You lived your whole life alone and you intended to keep it that way. But when you joined a Company of dwarves, a hobbit, and a wizard to reclaim a home in the Lonely Mountain, everything changed.

You weren't looking for love. But soon you found yourself looking his way. His actions and small gestures became more and more noticeable to you. You thought it was just because you were fascinated by the mystery that is Thorin Oakenshield. But that thought was discarded when you started to notice that you were always looking for him.

You weren't looking for love, but you accepted that you have feelings for the dwarf. Still, you kept it to yourself. His top priority right now was to succeed in reclaiming their home. You didn't want to distract him, you didn't want to be in the way. You contented yourself with the smallest and briefest glances towards his direction and with the short sentences he would tell you.

Right now you didn't know if love was a wonderful thing or not. Back in Laketown, you and Thorin had the longest conversation ever. He had opened up to you, telling you of his fears and his worries. You had also opened up, telling him you didn't know where to go after the quest. He had offered you a gentle smile and told you that you would always be welcome in Erebor. You felt closer to him and the smile he had given you made your heart swoon.

But the dwarf you came to love disappeared when the dragon left the mountain and all the gold inside were his to gaze upon. He disappeared and even said hurtful words to those he considered friends. He even said mean things about you, accusing you of stealing and possibly turning your back on them. It pained you to know that he thought of you that way. Still you stayed there because your friends were also there, and they were the only ones you knew in this vast world.

You still didn't know which way your opinion would go. Thorin had snapped out of the dark thoughts. He set out to battle with his kin, to do the right thing. Before all of you could join in on the fighting, he had pulled you aside and given you something. It was a bracelet. He told you it was made out of spare parts of other projects he had done. He always kept it as a reminder of home while his kin travelled far and wide to find a new place to get away from the dragon. Now he gave it to you, because he thought it would be fitting for someone special to him to wear something he treasured the most. He had gazed into your eyes with such raw emotion but said nothing. All he did was press a kiss on your hand and turn away to fight.

Now you were more than afraid. He had shown reason for you to hope that he returned your feelings. But this battle was gruesome and chaotic. No one knew what can happen. Will you live or will you die? You tried to brush off these kind of thoughts from your head. But when you spotted Thorin and the other trying to make their way up to Ravenhill, dread gripped your heart. You followed Bilbo, trying desperately to be there, hoping he would be alright. When Thorin spotted you, he made you go back but you refused. More fighting ensued and soon you were separated from Thorin.

When it happened, you already know on which opinion you would believe in.

Your heart stopped when they let go of Fili.

Your heart broke when they stabbed Kili.

And your heart shattered when they took Thorin away from you.

You told yourself you were supposed to be used to this. All your life you had faced such loss. But this was painful, more painful.
