ethan's pov

"wow, you are so damn sexy."

i turn around, an eyebrow raised. devon sits there on her desk chair, staring me up and down as i fixed my tie in her mirror.

sonny, raymond, nick, melanie and i were all here at devon's house before we headed over to the winter formal at some huge venue in the city. everyone was downstairs, getting ready to pre-game while devon and i snuck away from everyone and to her room.

her parents weren't home, thankfully, because they were at the winter formal already, chaperoning and pretending like they were seniors in highschool again.

"what?! it's the truth." she shrugged, crossing her arms as she continued to gawk at me.

i turn myself around to face her and mirror her actions, crossing my arms as well. "i'm starting to think you have a little crush on me, wu." i joke, smirking.

she winces, playfully. "oh, is it that obvious?"

"so obvious." i chuckled, shaking my head. this girl is something else. i know she was saying i looked good, but if you saw her, gosh... she was absolutely beautiful tonight. her hair was wavy, i only ever saw it being naturally straight, her dress was a slim grey dress that fell down to her toes with lace on her chest area and a slit upon the side, showing her leg. she had simple matching heels, and dangling diamond earrings to finish it off.

she said i looked good? well, she's about to seriously make me act up.

after a while, we force ourselves to meet the group downstairs. though i was enjoying alone time with dev, i was so excited to dance with her tonight in front of the school, in front of ruby, and most importantly, in front of her parents.

"finally! you're down here!" sonny shouts, his arms open wide. "here, take a shot." he tells me, urging me to take the glass.

i shake my head. "no way, bro. i wanna actually remember this night."

a couple more glasses later, we all bundled up in a car and drove to the venue. it was cramped, being in a five person car. while nick drove and melanie sitting in the passenger seat, we all squeezed in the back. devon sat up more, talking to melanie through the center console.

i couldn't help but stare at the skin showing through the openings of devon's dress. as nick made sharp turns, her hair would shift across it and i just couldn't help myself from thinking of my hands pulling at her hair, my lips against her neck and her skin against—

okay, i need to stop. i swiftly look outside the window, and away from devon to calm myself down. with all this flirty talk, all this comfortableness in kissing, and talking openly about our feelings towards another, i just couldn't help my guy thoughts. it made me oddly frustrated for some reason. almost like, i'm not supposed to be thinking this way.

"wow!" melanie gasps. "it's even prettier than the pictures!" she explains, pointing at the venue from a distance.

"parking is going to be a pain in the ass." nick mumbles, searching for a parking space somewhere in this parking lot provided by the school.

melanie was right. it was huge. there were strobe lights everywhere, projecting this event like it was super important when it was just a highschool dance. and after awhile, nick finally found parking and we all file out of the car and toward the venue.

as we walked toward the building, i couldn't help but find it so cute how even though devon was so busy talking to melanie still, she kept me close, holding my hand the entire way there.
