“Who is that?”

“The devil.” Charlotte shrugged. “She wouldn’t let me call you. I have to hang up, okay? Take care of yourself Danielle.”

“Okay, bye.”

Charlotte hung up. Danielle sighed. She has no one to talk to. Except her sister, Stephanie, who couldn’t understand her problems.

That night at dinner time, Mrs. Roberts cooked macaroni and cheese. Danielle tried to help her set the table, but Mrs. Roberts pushed her out of the kitchen. Not literally, of course.

Danielle was devastated. She sat on the sofa in front of the TV. She rested her head on her hands, and started to cry silently. She has been cry frequently now. It made her tired, giving her no comfort at all, but that’s the only thing she could do.

When the table was set, Stephanie came into the living room to call her.

“Hey Danny, are you okay?’

Danielle wiped her tears. “Yeah, I'm fine.”

Stephanie hugged her sister. “I know you have problems, and I'm too small to understand, but whatever your problem is, you have to be strong okay? I don’t like seeing you cry every day.”

Danielle smiled weakly. “thanks.” She hugged her sister back.

She went to the table and set down next to her sister. Her mother sat a few chairs away from her. As usual, only Stephanie would talk, and either Danielle or her mother would respond. Never did, Danielle talked while her mother was talking and vice versa.

“So how was your day today Annie?” Danielle smiled at her sister. Her mother remained silent.

“It was fine.” Stephanie raised her shoulder. “Justin Bieber came to my school today, along with his wife and baby.”

“Really?” Danielle smiled. “It must be so much fun right? I was a big fan of Justin once.”

“Yeah, it was nothing. I got bored actually.”

“How could you get bored? Don’t you like Justin?” Danielle asked.

“No. he’s not that cool.”

“Hey, Justin is one of the most famous singers ever known worldwide!”

“Yeah, back at your time.” Stephanie spooned more macaroni and cheese on to her plate. “Now, barely anyone knows him at my school.”

“Really? Wow, that sure is sad. He’s just twenty three.”

“Well, you don’t expect anyone to be famous forever don’t you? Like Greyson,”

Danielle swallowed hard hearing Greyson’s name.

“Greyson will soon lose his fame one day.” Stephanie continued. “No one could keep his name high forever. Eventually people would lost their interest and look for other people with more talents or more sparks.”

“You’ve got a point.” Danielle poked the macaroni on her plate with her fork. She wasn’t eating that much. The problems in her mind were taking her appetite away. But she ate some, for the baby inside her.

Mrs. Roberts remained silent from the start. She stared at her plate, eating without a sound. Danielle looked at her mom. She felt guilty. Her mother looked so tired, and fragile.

“Mom? Do you want me to help you clean up later?” Danielle tried to talk to her mother.

Mrs. Roberts gave no respond in return. Danielle sighed. After they all finished eating, Mrs. Roberts went upstairs and locked herself inside her room.
