Chapter 20

Danielle was asleep next to her mother. They were still at the hospital. The doctors said that they could check out by tomorrow morning.

“You look as if you were never sick Mrs. Roberts.” The doctor smiled.

“Well, I'm happy because my daughter is here beside me.” Mrs. Roberts looked at Danielle. She squeezed Danielle's hand. Danielle smiled.

“Well, I have a few medicines I want you to eat when you get home; I’ll give it to you tomorrow ok?”

“yeah.” Danielle smiled at the doctor. She’s a kind old lady thought Danielle.

Mrs. Roberts’s food arrived in a tray. The smell was too strong for Danielle. She felt dizzy. Suddenly, she ran out of the room. Charlotte followed her. Her sister, Stephanie, wasn’t there, she was at school.

Danielle vomited into the hospital sink. She felt like she just vomited everything she has ever eaten in her entire life.

“ohh.” Danielle moaned. Her stomach ache was getting worse.

“Danny?” charlotte came into the girl’s bathroom. “Are you okay?”

Danielle shook her head. She was felling so dizzy, she could see three Charlottes standing in front of her. Danielle shut her eyes tightly. She held her stomach. “Ohh.”

Charlotte rubbed Danielle's back. “Look Danny, we have to go check you up. You’re getting worse!” charlotte frowned. “It could be serious food poisoning.”

Danielle was too dizzy to reply. Inside her head, the world was tilting sideward. Charlotte steadied her.

“Danny, we’re in the hospital now. We just have to walk a few steps to the doctor’s office, it’s not that far.”

Danielle shook her head. She didn’t want to go check up. She didn’t want to be sick. She had enough things to worry about.

“I don’t care if you don’t want to check up or not but I'm still taking ya.” Charlotte pulled Danielle softly outside the bathroom and into the doctor’s office. Danielle was too weak to resist.

“Hi, yes may I help you?” the doctor smiled.

“Uhh, Doctor -?”

“Call me Lisa.” She smiled.

“Doctor Lisa, my friend here,” Charlotte pointed at Danielle who was sitting in the plastic chair next to the doctor’s table. “Is sick.”

“I see. What kind of sickness?”

“It’s like this.” Charlotte sat down next to Danielle. “She went to Asia a couple of days ago, and she ate various kinds of foreign foods there. So I thought-“

“Food poisoning?” the doctor asked.

“Yeah. Maybe her stomach can’t stand the foods there or something?”

“Ok, let me take a look.”

The doctor checked Danielle. After a while, she opened her drawer and took out a small tube.

“I want you to fill this up with her urine and give it to me.” The doctor gave the tube to Charlotte.

“Now?”

“Yes now. You can use the bathroom over here.” The doctor pointed to a bathroom in her office.

“Thanks.” Charlotte helped Danielle stand up.

After a few minutes, Charlotte came back with the little tube full. “Is this enough?”

“Yes, I think that should do it.” The doctor smiled.
