Kabanata 25 - Spring Hunt

"Do we have to stay on the hunting field for 3 days until the festival is over?"

Nag-isip ng saglit si Portia and shakes her head, "If the Duke think his kills were enough as an offering then you can go home, Lady Amaury."

Tumango-tango ako iniintindi ang mangyayari sa Spring Hunt, "Then if Dale decided to finish the hunt, hindi ako makakauwi?"

"The duke prioritize your well-being, Lady Amaury. If the Lady wants to leave, then the duke would allow you."

Ngumuso ako at hindi na nagtanong pang muli. I immediately finished my orange juice and bread when I heard Kaeden called out my name. Ready na daw ang karwahe pati si Dale. Ako na lamang ang hinihintay.

I am about to leave the room pero walang sumusunod na maid sa'akin palabas. Nilingon ko sila. Nakatayo lamang sila sa likuran ko at nakatingin sakin.

"Aren't you all coming with me?" I asked them.

Umiling si Portia as she is the head of my maids, "Tanging noble ladies lamang ang may karapatan tumungo sa Spring Hunt, Lady Amaury." Simpleng tugon ni Portia sakin.

"Eh? Then you can also come, Portia! You should go with Lady Amaury."

Portia hissed on Rona dahil sa sinabi nito. Nagpalipat-lipat ang tingin ko kay Rona at Portia, tila ba may kung anong dahilan sa titigan nilang dalawa.

"Pay no attention to us, Lady Amaury. You must go and meet the Duke now." ani Portia, Rona was standing with her head down, "We will be waiting for your safe return."

Bumagabag sakin ang sinabi ni Rona but then I didn't have time to think of it more dahil sa muling pagtawag ni Kaeden. When I went out, Dale and Gabriel were already waiting for me. Nasa labas lamang sila ng karwahe habang si Sir Adam ay naka-alalay sakin pababa ng hagdan.

I clutched my purse na naglalaman ng panyo na gawa ko. I only did two handkerchiefs na para sa Spring Hunt. The other one was the panda I made for me. I guess I should give it to Sir Adam hmm.

"You look neat." Ani Dale as he held out his hand to me. Inabot ko iyon at hinayaan siya sa pag-alalay sakin pasakay.

"Uh. Thanks."

I wasn't sure if that was a compliment or what. Nang komportable na akong nakaupo ay pumasok na din siya sa karwahe. Both Sir Adam and Gabriel ride their huge horses papunta sa hunting field. Nang makarating doon all I can see was several huge tents and people who were socializing under the tame sun. The field was near a valley and mountains kaya naman marami ang nag take part sa Spring Hunt. Naunang bumaba si Dale, inabot sakin ang kamay para tulungan ako bumaba.

"I hope you have enough energy to socialize to people for hours." Biro niya habang pababa ako.

I already knew that would happen. I am more than ready. Dahil I am determined na itaas ang pangalan ko sa social circle. Kumapit ako sa braso ni Dale as we walk towards our tent na nasa pinaka unahan. I can easily spot it because it was the only tent na black ang kulay with a silver moon crest drawn on it. Beside me was Gabriel habang nasa likuran naman namin si Sir Adam at apat pang knight na kasama.

On the right side, familiar faces were there. Sila ang mga noble ladies na laging kasama ni Beatrice, even Beatrice's brother Leandro was there. Akala ko ba ay na stranded sila? Maybe hindi kasama si Leandro? Hmm?

I noticed Leandro's glare as he blatantly turning his head, ignoring my existence. Fine by me! I don't have anything to do with him actually. In fact, I must severe all my connection to them because it was the Childe's who cost my death, Amaury's death on the novel. The girls also looked at me with the same resentment. As if I have done them wrong.
