Edward sighed and sat down in the sofa. I felt bad for asking that question and went to sit next to him. My arms went around his torso and I buried my head in his chest. Holding him felt amazing and it was enough to ease the tension between us.

"You don't have to tell. It was rude of me even asking", I whispered.

"No... it's just something I've been trying to forget", he muttered.

I looked up to him. He looked different, I didn't recognise the expression on his face. My hand went up to his face and I stroked his cheek.

"I understand that, Edward. I want you to know that you can tell me anything. It won't change the fact that I love you", I meant that as truthful as it came out.

I love him and nothing would change that.

"I love you too", he kissed me.

He pulled me closer to him and I clanged into him. I had missed him so much.

"My father has been very unstable ever since he met Adeline years ago. His wolf was constantly popping up because he wanted his mate. But he had a family with my mother. He was conflict with himself and it drove him to a bad place",

"I grew up with my parents fighting because he had two children with Adeline. My mother was heartbroken and angry. They grew apart",

"When I turned sixteen, the situation got worse. My father started to abandon his duties and packs were starting to riot. He had no more control over the situation, so I had to step up",

"You became enforcer?", I asked.

He nodded but looked like he wanted to speak. He bit on his lip and looked down. He seemed to be ashamed. I cupped his face and nodded encouragingly.

"To become an enforcer, your father has to pass down the title or you have to fight for the title",

I had a feeling where this was going but I didn't interrupt him.

"My father didn't want to step down. Not until I turned eighteen but the situation was only getting worse. Then one day he was arguing with my mom and it was getting out of hand. More than usual",

He stopped and looked up at the ceiling. I sat up and climbed in his lap. I cupped his face and kissed his forehead. There were tears in his eyes.

"You don't have to, Edward. We can wait for when you're ready", I assured him.

But he shook his head.

"No, I want to get this off my chest. You're my mate".

"My fathers wolf was popping up in front of my mom. He was out of control and he focused his rage on my mom. When he hit her, it felt like my mind went black and something took over me. When I got back to myself, I was sitting on top of my father who was bleeding seriously",

"You stood up for your mother, Edward. You protected her", I tried to tell him.

"No, my wolf popped out. I took away his title by overpowering him",

"It was your protective instinct. Everybody has it, Edward. So many wolves go through the same. You didn't do anything wrong", I assured him.

"Still, he's my father and I love him. I never wanted to hurt him",

"I know but he wasn't himself. He was blinded by his own greed and anger",

He looked at me and I pulled him in for a comforting hug. We stayed like that for a while. I don't know how long but it was all we needed. Laying in each other's embrace knowing we were there for each other.

He was my person and I was his.
