~Chapter 29~

It took only about ten minutes to reach the small clinic and once we did, we walked in. When I entered the building I walked up to the front desk, still shivering from the falling snow outside and the cold temperature. But I felt a little warmer from the trees I saw, decorated with lights in the lobby. "U-Um, excuse me." I asked, looking at the nurse in front of me. "I'm here for my appointment with Doctor Cassidy?" She looked up at me, and smiled. "Ah, yes. Amy right?" I nodded, confirming my name. "Your right on time." she replied before writing down the room number and giving it to me. "She is waiting for you in room 305." I thanked her, and walked down the hallway with Jack following close behind. I gave a small laugh when I saw Jack looking around with wide eyes. I guess he had never seen something like this before. But I didn't mind it. Jack was so cute like that. I stopped in front of room 305, before taking a deep breath and entering. Dr. Cassidy was sitting on a chair, before she looked up and smiled. "Ah, Amy! You made it!" She said, before getting up and shaking my hand. "Of course I did!" I replied, smiling. She then gestured me to sit on the table with the paper on it, and so I did. "Now, you are here to make sure everything is alright, am I correct?" She asked, before moving her chair closer until she was about 5-10 feet in front of me. "Yes." I replied, before laying down on the examination table. "I've been having pains in my stomach, and they've been getting worse." She then started the usual check up, with the breathing, ears, and throat, before moving on to my stomach. "Can you describe the pain you've been feeling?" She asked, before putting on gloves. Jack was nervous, seeing her do all these things. I guess he had never seen this before. "Yes." I replied, continuing. "It's mostly a sharp pain in the lower region of my stomach, and it's been making me feel uncomfortable in a lot of ways." After I finished explaining she looked at me. "Have you been feeling any of this pain in your pelvic region?" I nodded, wondering how she knew. After checking my stomach over one more time, she brought her head back up. "Based on the pain you described Amy, it looks like your showing signs of labor." My heart raced when she said that. "W-What?" I squeaked out, obviously caught off guard by these words. She calmly explained it to me. "The pain you described having is contractions, which explains why you felt pain in your pelvic region." I froze when she said that. "We have to get you to the maternity ward right away." Just as she said that, I was hit with the most horrible sharpest pain I've ever felt, besides of course when Issac hurt me. "Ah!" I cried and I grabbed my stomach. "A-Amy??" Jack cried, and rushed to my side. I could barely stand. The pain was unbearable. "I-It hurts....." I whimpered, nearly collapsing onto the floor. Dr. Cassidy helped me walk out and sit me in a chair. She called for a few nurses as I saw at least three nurses approach me. They helped me up, and sat me in a wheelchair. I was groaning in pain, and saw that Jack couldn't come with me. He looked at me with concern and worry. I mouthed that it was okay, and he nodded but still held that worried look in his eyes. They took me after a few seconds.

Laughing Jack's POV~~

I watched as Amy was taken. "A-Amy, wait!" I tried following her but Amy stopped me. "Its okay" she mouthed to me. I sighed, but nodded and she was gone in a few seconds. I just stayed there for a few minutes. Was something wrong? I wanted to go with her so badly. But, I realized that all I could do was wait. I sat down and waited, feeling anxious. Please be okay Amy. I thought to myself, closing my eyes. I promise......I'll be by your side soon.

Amy's POV~

I was in so much pain. I was crying at this point from it. I looked around briefly, and saw I was in the maternity ward, with nurses all around me. I didn't quite exactly hear what they were saying. Soon, I was put onto a bed and given something through an IV bag. After a few minutes, I felt tired. So.........I fell asleep.

Laughing Jack's POV~~

I sat there waiting until Carly came up to me. "H-How is Amy??" I blurted. She motioned me to follow. So I did. We went down a long hallway until I bumped into Carly from behind. 'W-Why did you stop?" "This is where Amy is." She pointed to the door in front of her. "Just be quiet. She's sleeping." I nodded and slowly opened the door to see Amy indeed sleeping. "Amy......" I muttered her name as I felt myself walk up to her. I sat beside my girl and held her hand. "W-What's happening to her?" "Her doctor said she's in labor." I turned to Carly so she knew I was listening. "It means her body is preparing for delivery, so she's gonna be in pain and have contractions. They don't know for how long though. Could be a few hours." I nodded and turned back to Amy. "I'll leave you to alone. Just keep an eye on her Jack." "I will." With that said, Carly left and I turned my gaze back to Amy. "Oh Amy......" I gently squeezed her hand as my cheeks heated up. We.......We would meet our baby. And on my birthday.

An hour later........

Amy's POV~

I groaned as my eyes starting opening and once they were opened, I saw I was staring up at a peach/white ceiling. When I turned to my left, I saw Jack holding my hand. But he didn't see I was awake. "....J-Jack.....?" I called out to him. Jack lifted his head up and his eyes widened when he saw I was awake. "A-Amy?" I gently squeezed Jack's hand in response and smiled. "Amy!" Jack got up and pulled me into a hug. I was a bit shocked but I slowly hugged him back. "You scared me so much my love." I pulled out of the hug and laid back down as I met Jack's gaze. "What happened?" I asked, as I rubbed my belly. "You were in pain and they took you here. They gave you something to sleep for the pain." Jack explained the rest to me. I just laid there in silence. I let it sink in. "Amy?" I heard Jack say my name when I wasn't responding. "..........." I was still thinking about it. "Amy? A-Are you oka-" I cut Jack off when I wrapped my arms around him. "A-Amy??" Jack was obviously shocked at my sudden actions. "A-Amy? Are you......crying?" Jack had wrapped his arms around me. I was indeed crying. "We.......We're gonna meet our baby J-Jack......" I heard him chuckle before he rested his head in the crook of my neck. "I know." I was happy. But I was nervous. After we hugged for a while, Jack (while still hugging me) laid me down on my back on the bed and we separated from the embrace. "How do you feel my love?" I shifted slightly while keeping my left hand on my belly. "I'm slightly uncomfortable and my pelvis slightly hurts a l-little." I replied, shifting still. My pelvis and region felt uncomfortable. Jack squeezed my hand and I squeezed his in return. After a few minutes, Cassidy came in and explained what was happening to me. My body was going into labor, which meant my body was getting ready to deliver my baby. So my pelvis was going to dilate and stretch so I could push my baby. She also explained that I was going to be in labor for a few hours. How many hours, though, depended on my body completely. After she finished explaining, she left so I could begin the process. I turned to Jack and squeezed his hand more tightly. "I-I'm scared Jack." "Shh...." Jack shushed me, as he nuzzled my head with his own. "I'm right here. I'm staying right here with you." "Y-You don't have to stay Jack...." "But I want to Amy." Jack answer back before kissing me. "I want to be with you. I'm gonna stay here no matter how long it takes. I want to be with you and our baby." "J-Jackie......" I started tearing up. Jack really was so sweet..... I nuzzled him as we sat in silence, waiting for my body to be ready.
