~Chapter 7~

The next day, after breakfast~~~~~~~~~

After I had finished breakfast, I decided to walk towards the animal shelter that was nearby and see if I could help out! I forgot to mention that I love animals, and they hold a very special place in my heart. I let my mom know where I was going, so I was clear with that out of the way. Of course I was unaware that Jack was following me.

Laughing Jack's POV~~

I noticed Amy was going somewhere I wasn't familiar with after she left her home. I decided to follow her, since I was nervous. I was wondering where she was going. That's when I noticed a......shelter? My heart skipped a beat. S-She......She liked animals? I was clearly shocked at this. I had never known she liked animals. I smiled softly. She really had changed so much. I continued watching her, curiously.

Amy's POV~

It took me a few minutes to get there, but finally I saw the shelter slowly come into my view as I got closer. I smiled, and walked a little faster. I was only five feet from the entrance, when I heard meowing. I stopped walking immediately, and listened closely. I heard it again, but this time I heard two meows. I turned my head towards the direction of where it was coming from. The meowing was coming from a shrub. I cautiously and slowly walked towards the sound, and crouched down in front of the shrub. I took a deep breath, before slowly moving the shrub away to see what was causing the meowing, and I felt that my breath caught in my throat at what I saw.

In front of me, lying on the ground, were two newborn kittens. I gaped in shock, my mouth open wide. Looking closer at them, I realized that they couldn't have been more than a week old and their eyes were already opened. They opened their mouths, crying. I knew I couldn't leave them here, especially not in this hot weather! I quickly picked them up gently, and rushed to the shelter entrance. I couldn't let them die! I burst into the shelter, and saw that Jake was here. "Jake!" I shouted his name and he quickly looked at me. "What's wrong Amy?" He asked, quickly rushing towards me. As soon as he got close to me, he saw the two kittens I was holding, then he looked back up at me. "I found them outside in a shrub." I explained quickly. "When I picked them up they were hot! They won't survive if they aren't cooled down!" Jake didn't even hesitate and rushed towards the back of the shelter, before returning with two water bottles. "Say no more." He said, and gently grabbed the second kitten that had opened its eyes already from my arms. "I'll cool down this one, and you cool down the other." I nodded and quickly sat down, as I gently rubbed cold water around the kitten gently. I checked to see what gender it was, and it was girl. Jake checked the kitten he had and said it was a girl as well. They were both girls. I gently cradled the kitten I had, who was crying. "Shh......its okay......" I muttered softly. ".......Your safe.......its okay......"

Laughing Jack's POV~~

I watched Amy through the glass window, and saw her holding that small animal. She has a kind heart. I thought to myself, smiling softly. She's........She's changed so much......... I quickly went back to her room and waited for her, a soft smile on my face. She really had changed so much over the years.
