Chapter 22

Colby's POV

I smiled down at Sam proudly. He'd come so far in so little time. I knew he still didn't completely trust me, but that would take a long time.

"He's so cute!" Devyn squealed. I smiled and pulled Sam closer, laying my head on his.

We all talked for a while, Elton telling me that he was gunna get me back real good. That was until I got a call from Kat.

"Hey." I said as I answered.

"Colby we have a huge problem!" She said urgently. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"What?" I asked.

"My dad, he saw your video. And-Colby I'm so sorry! I didn't know this was gunna happ-"

"Katrina, what's going on?" I cut her off in a serious tone.

"My dad wants Sam back." She sniffled. I stared at the wall in utter shock, the roommates trying to get my attention.

"W-why?" I stuttered. She took a deep breath to collect herself before speaking.

"He never sold Sam. I helped him escape, meaning he still technically has ownership." She paused, "he can't go back, you're the only good thing in his life and my dad is such a cruel man."

"He won't be going back, that's a promise." I growled. No way was he going back to this man.

"Colby, you don't know how powerful he is. He will do everything and anything to get what he wants." She said sounding defeated.

"Then I will take him to court." I said in a matter of fact tone. "Have Sam testify, he can't go to an abusive home."

"That actually, might work." Kat said surprised.

"It will." I said, "now let me explain to the roommates what's going on."

"Ok." She whispered and hung up. I took in a deep breath, trying to keep myself from screaming. I was thankful that Sam had slept through that.

"So? What going on?" Aaron questioned. I sighed before I told them. They were all in pure shock.

"How are we gunna tell Sam?" Elton asked sadly. I shrugged putting my head in my hands.
