"I swear I didn't mean to. I was telling them to stop singing in the middle of a class, but the teacher doesn't seem to understand that." I told him.

"It's okay," He ruffled my hair and let out a chuckle, "kids these days."

"I'm going out Dad." I heard Maverick yell.

Dad said 'okay' to him while walking to his own room. I was sitting in the living room, when I realized all of Thibbaults friends had gone and so had Thibbault.

Elliot was sitting on the couch, watching TV and occasionally commenting as if the players could actually hear him. So I went to my room and lay down on the bed.

I don't know if I should go to Brynn's birthday party or not. She invited almost the whole school and none of the students like me.

What if they started making fun of me at the party?

"Elliot!" I heard a scream come from downstairs.

I shot up and decided to check it out.

Maybe Grandpa's here.

I left my room and stood at the top of the stairs, hiding behind slightly so that no one could see me. I noticed a little girl hugging Elliot tightly.

Who is she?

Dad closed the door behind him and there stood a man, who actually looked like what I had imagined my grandfather would look like.

He had gray hair and beard and his forehead was covered with frown lines, but there was a warm smile playing on his lips.

"My little girl has gotten so big." Dad said, giving the girl a peck on her cheek.

"Yeh Uncle Jaxon, I'm a big girl now."

"Grandpa didn't tell me you were coming too, Piper?" Elliot asked.

"Cause I wanted to give you guys a surprise visit." She said, squealing in his arms.

"She was actually crying for me to bring her here." Grandpa chuckled.

Elliot smirked at the girl, causing her to playfully glare at Grandpa.

"Where's Connor?" Grandpa asked and I quickly walked back to my room.

"I’ll call him." Dad replied.

I don't want to face him. Not yet. I've never met him before and I feel a bit nervous.

"Where's Thibbault and Maverick?" I heard the girl ask Elliot.

"Out."

"Wait. Where's my new cousin!?"

New cousin?

"Your new cousin's upstairs in his room." Elliot said with a little laugh.

"I want to meet him. I want to meet him." I heard her squeal.

"Go on then." Elliot chuckled.

This girl seems hyper!

A few minutes later, there was a knock on my door. I opened the door and there was the same little girl standing with a big smile on her face.

"Hi!" She exclaimed.

"Hi!" I said and she walked in.

"I'm Piper. You're Connor right?"

"Yeah." I smiled at her.

"Daddy told me about you. You used to live with your mum in Thailand, but now you're living here."

"Yeah, where do you live?"

"Alaska."

She sat down on my bed and said, "You know I thought maybe you would be younger than me, but you're also looking older than me. That means all of you are older than me." A small pout formed on her lips and I let out a chuckle.

"Yeh, I am older than you. I'm 13-year-old. You're 9 or 10?"

"I0."

Elliot entered my room. I watched as Piper jumped out of my bed and skipped towards Elliot. Laughingly, he reached down to pick her up effortlessly. She quickly wrapped her legs around his waist.

"Someone missed me a lot."

"It's been so long since I've seen you in person." She sighed.

"Aw, baby don't be sad." He cooed, brushing her hair back from her face and glancing at me.

"Did you talk to your new cousin?"

"Yeh, but he doesn't talk much."

I chuckled slightly. Elliot put her back down on the floor and turned towards me.

"Connor, Dad’s calling you downstairs."

"You've gotten so big, huh?" Grandpa chuckled, pulling me into a hug.

My mind went blank at the moment. I didn't know what to say or what to do. I've never met him and it was kind of awkward so I just smiled at him.

"He doesn't remember you." Dad told him.

"I see. Well, how could he?" His soft voice spoke once again. "The last time I saw him, he was 4."

I looked at the floor not knowing what to say. I felt him put his finger under my chin, lifting it up so we were making eye contact.

"Missed you, kid." He said placing a kiss on my head.

"Did you meet Piper?" Dad asked.

"Yeh, she seems hyper." I laughed while Grandpa hummed in response with a little chuckle.

I sat there for a while and I felt glad that he didn’t ask any questions about my past. Dad and Grandpa were busy talking so I decided to go to my room.

"C-Can I go?" I asked quietly.

I felt Grandpa staring at me with a frown, maybe because I stuttered.

"Sure." Dad said.

As I was going upstairs to my room someone threw his bag over me, "Ah!" I said in shock. I looked up to see Maverick.

"Go and put it on the couch." He demanded harshly.

I meekly nodded and quietly made my way to the living room, struggling to hold the heavy bag.

I placed it on the couch, like he told me to do. I rubbed my shoulder with the palm of my hand trying to ease the pain a bit. Just when I looked up I saw Thibbault entering the house.
