                        C O N N O R

When I woke up this morning, I knew I wasn't in my bed. I slowly opened my eyes and got up yawning. I stared blankly at the TV and let out another yawn before fixing my position.

Do Jaxon really felt guilt or he's just faking?

I was locked up in that prison for nine years of my life and he never came to check up on me. So, why now?

I winced as I moved a little which put pressure on my ribs. I bit my lip, looking at my wrist. It was inflamed and tender.

I sighed and took a breath.

I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I should take a shower after breakfast.

Should I go downstairs or not?

I muttered 'Yes' to myself and unlocked the door to head downstairs.

As I walked in, everyone was doing breakfast. As soon as I step in, all eyes were on me. They three glared at me and Jaxon smiled at me.

"Oh hey, Connor. Thought you're not gonna be up at anytime soon. Come on." I forced a smile and moved to the table.

"Hurry up or will be late for school." Jaxon said.

"Hurry up or will be late for school." Maverick mocked him. Jaxon eyed him. "Chill Dad." He laughed. Thibbault hit him with his spoon.
"What the hell?"

"Maverick." Jaxon said sternly. "Watch your language and Thibbault, don't hit your brother."
They both chuckled.

"It's almost 8 and we're gonna be late." Elliott stood up from the table. They both got up too and grabbed their backpack, and yelled 'bye' before leaving the house.

I felt a little more comfortable after they left the house. Oh God! What am saying?
I smiled to myself and began to eat breakfast.

An hour passed. I'm in my room.
A soft knock startled me from my thoughts.

"Come in." I said.

The door opened and Jaxon walked in with a bag in his hand. I narrowed my brow, confused. He unzipped the bag and took out a box. The walls of the box is made of thick chipboard.

"Open it." He said while passing me the box. I took it from his hand with confusion written on my face.

A box? I curiously looked at it. It kinda looks like a phone box.

IPhone!

I widened my eyes, as a glass body revealed in front of my face. It was IPhone X.

"Whoa." I gasped. "Who is it for?"

I'm sure, it's not for you.

Yeh, I know that too.

"Of course for you." He chuckled.

"No, no, no. I can't take it." I quickly put it down on the bed from my hand. "You have already done enough for me."

"I have done nothing for you." He muttered.

He picked up the phone and smiled before giving it to me.

"I can't, Jaxon." Hurt flashed through his eyes, as I called his name. I can't call him Dad. Not yet.

"Yes, you're gonna have it whether you like it or not."

"No, I love it but-"
"You're gonna go to school tomorrow so you should have it." He said.
