We Are The Teenagers

This is my poem for my english final

We are the teenagers.
I promise it's not just a phase .
This hurt that I feel is the real thing
But you don't care, all that you say
Is " Just act natural for the day”
We are misunderstood for how we live our lives
We are judged for our flaws.
They will never see us cry
For if they do, they will flay us alive.
The monstrosities in full view
But we will never see it through
For if we do we will find
that even demons have better lives.

No longer will our pain be know
Keep it buried, but never let it go,
They call us heartless but they'll never know
That our tomorrow might never show.
For fleeting thoughts that leave us shaking
You have no idea what fear you’re  making
The yelling, the screaming
is not helping this pain I'm feeling.
The final breath
Is just music in the background of death
For when the darkness comes
The waves surround us just for fun.
doin’ nothing more than ready their guns.

You scream at us
We have no defense
For when we try to defend
It's a felony offence
Let the words you say grow louder
Till all this left
Is a banging in our heads
We are in the wrong
We cannot understand
What are we going wrong
When we’re trying our best
Why is it we are scrutinized for mistakes
Is that not how we learn in this day and age
My apologies if I’m upset
but let's be real for a sec.
There is no winning
We are stuck in a corner
With no escape or counter
Insubordance is not tolerated
Go and think about your mistakes.

All I seem to do is wrong.
I should leave
But I fear that if I go
If I do what I've been longing to
It will end in nothing but screaming.
Tearing at my soul.
Withering me down.
I think I've learned my lesson
Can I come out now.

As the days grow longer
 the lines go deeper
 And sleeves grow longer
Just to hide the fear be somber.
Let this be a message for the lost
The few that know what pain is worse
Is being betrayed by those you trust most
The friends we would be sacrificed for
Would never do the same.
For we are expendable
They are unbreakable
We are worthless
And caring far too much
That shatters our hearts,
But who cares, we are the forgotten ones
The ones to suffer with no revenge.
Let that betrayal power your pride
And never let it pull you to the dark side.
For when it does you'll be gone
Just like those who are never found,
You'll begin to drown
But honestly,
Who cares for us
Or tries to understand
Certainly not ourselves,
We don't wish to be found
We want to sink into the dark depths of this life
Be forgotten, never to see the light
And as the thread of life is cut
There is no more trust.
This is where our story ends
There is no happy end.
