Twenty-second Verse

I'm still here
waiting for you
hoping that this still isn't
a wasted love...

Minha hesitated on the threshold of the dorm room, bag in hand. The other four boys were busy unpacking their bags and getting settled in. Junhee looked up and saw him.

“Hyung, what are you standing there for?” he asked.

Jungkyu threw a cushion at Minha.

“Stop looking like a stranger. We left your place for you.” He pointed at the bunk near the window that Minha had occupied on their last visit.

“Who's a stranger?” Minha threw the cushion back. To tell the truth, that was exactly how he felt, but he crossed the room anyway and slung his backpack on the bunk mentioned.

“That's all you brought, hyung?” Myungseok stared at the backpack. So did Sangmin.

“Huh?” Junhee looked at Minha. “Okay. Who are you and what did you do to Minmin hyung?”

“Yeah,” Sangmin said. “Where's the rest of our hyung's luggage that he always brings with him?”

“Shut up,” Minha said and flopped down on the bunk. “What was I supposed to pack? Hospital gowns?” He frowned at them. “Why are all of you here anyway?”

“Oh, I'm sorry,” Jungkyu said in mock sarcasm. “Did we interrupt some lovey-dovey times?Because when I found out where you'd gone, that was the first thing that came to mind. I really really wanted to tell Jae sunbae and Mia noona that.”

Minha sat up abruptly.

“Did you?” he demanded, glaring at Jungkyu.

Jungkyu glared back.

“Much as I wanted to, I didn't. Satisfied?” He slung a small traveling bag to the floor beside Minha's bunk. “There. That's yours. I packed some of your clothes in case you needed them.”

“Thank you. I think.” Minha still wasn't in the mood to forgive him.

“Why are you the one who's mad? I'm not the one who ran off and left everyone else behind.”

“I'm not the one who just agreed to kick someone out of the group while they didn't have a voice to speak for themselves either.” Minha folded his arms.

“Idiot,” Jungkyu retorted. He picked up the nearest thing to hand, a rolled-up sheaf of paper, and smacked Minha on the forehead. “Who's been kicked out? Nobody got kicked out. Least of all not you. If you hadn't run away you'd have known that.”

Minha shook his head, still not inclined to believe him.

“Who told you you were going to be kicked out? The old man?” Jungkyu asked.

“He said I was going to be replaced. By Kiyoung,” Minha muttered.

“Oh, so that was why he brought that guy along?” Junhee asked. “I'd wondered.”

“He only told us that Kiyoung wanted to visit you as the representative of the trainees,” Jungkyu said. “But then you threw us all out. No wonder there was a smirk on his face as we were leaving.” He reached over and smacked Minha again. “You babo. You could just have asked me. Rotten stinker.”
