Shadows fill my eyes
Hurt and confusion rein
Darkness clouds my soul
My spirit's light dimmed
Agony fills my body
As bones crack and break
Muscles shift and move
My heart clenches
But the pain shifts to pleasure
A pleasing release
Skin ripples and moves
To accommodate new textures
Arms lengthen and legs shorten
Fingertips curve and elongate
Claws burst forth
As fur comes in waves
No sound once registered
Now bursts from my throat
A midnight song
Filled with promise
Light fills my soul
As wings are lent to my feet
I run for the pure joy of it
I howl for the freedom
