The cold air nipped at Yoongi's frostbitten nose, his thin Navy school jumper doing nothing to protect him from the weather. The temperature was unusual for what was supposed to be the end of summer; so much that the near surrounding was merely covered by a layer of white fog. The only thing visible being the bus stop he was waiting at.

Typical for Yoongi's luck, having to endure the first day at a new school is hard enough, he just has to have the elements against him, too.

You heard right... A new school. Yoongi had just transferred from his old school in South Korea, all the way to a little country in the Southern Hemisphere. New Zealand. Why his parents decided to travel roughly 10,000km to a fucking island, Yoongi didn't know. It was beyond him. The weather seemed to be pretty shit so far, too. But at least he spoke the language, or else he's sure he'd be dead by now.

The raven-haired boy is quickly pulled out from his thoughts when he sees two bright headlights heading his direction. The bus. Fucking finally, time to get out of this cold.

Yoongi steps to the side of the pavement and waves his hand to signal the bus driver. A few mere seconds later the vehicle pulls over, opening the doors, inviting Yoongi in. He lets out a shaky breath before stepping through, here it begins.

The day goes smoothly if Yoongi can say so himself. His form class is filled with a bunch of right dickheads and he had some pretty boring classes. Nothing too major. That's until the last period rolls around, at least.

Yoongi had walked into maths, expecting the class to be exactly like the previous lessons he had that day. An awkward introduction and placed at one of the few tables with a spare seat left, only to be relatively ignored because of the awkward intrudement of already established relationships on said table.

Well, it was heading that direction, until he had sat down at the front of the class at an empty table. This is what he gets for transferring one month into the school year on a Tuesday, huh?

Oh, also the fact that halfway through the lesson, a boy (what looks like to be a year below Yoongi) crashes into the classroom screaming someone's name. To only realize he's in the wrong place.

This school's weird.

There's an awkward pause where the entire class is silent, simultaneously eyeing the boy in confusion.

"Mr. Kim, what are you doing out of class?" Their teacher, Mr. J, questions. But he doesn't entirely look too surprised like he's used to teenage boys with bright orange hair disrupting his class.

"Oh, hi Mr. J! Uh... I- "

"I don't want to hear it, now, for the love of God... Please go back to class." The poor man sighs, seemingly just wanting to get back to the lesson. He's probably seen this one too many times before.

This seems to hit the younger boy, an apologetic smile creeping up onto his blushed face before swiftly turning around and bolting out the door.

Yoongi has a feeling that he's not going back to his own class.

The rest of the lesson surprisingly goes without any more scenes before the bell rings to signal the end of the day. Yoongi quickly packs up his things before heading out the door to the front of the school. Time to catch the bus home.

It's a 20-minute bus ride to the transport center, where Yoongi gets off to catch his second bus. But, since with the abundant of school kids catching the one straight after school, he decided to catch the second one that leaves about 10 minutes later. It was a quiet ride, but extremely inconvenient as it was late and he ended up having to run off of his school bus to catch his connecting one in time.

The large vehicle was just about to pull out of the bay before he got there. But he was just in time to hop on, showing the driver his ticket from his previous bus, granting him a free ride. He sighs heavily as he stands in the hall of the bus, panting from the quick sprint he had to do. Then the bus suddenly kicks into gear, leading Yoongi to nearly face plant from a loss of balance.

Jesus, do these drivers give zero fucks?

He looks up to find an empty double seat, only to sigh in disappointment. Every seat is occupied by at least a single human being. Now he has to sit next to a stranger, too? Great.

Yoongi's about to sit down to some random dude in a suit before he hears his name being called out at the back of the bus.

"Yoongi?"

He looks up, startled as to why anyone on this freaking island would know his name. Only to be even more confused when it's a relatively extremely attractive boy who had called him out.

"Come sit beside me, I'm in your maths class."

Oh, well... Alright then.

Yoongi makes his way up the steps to the back of the bus and promptly sits down next to the boy who appears to be his classmate.

"I'm Hoseok, you were in my maths class last period with Mr. J, right?" The boy- well, Hoseok, asks. Yoongi nods simply, but then smiles at the memory from an hour or so ago.

"Yeah, with that Kim guy interrupting halfway through?"

Hoseok seems to find it really funny because he laughs out loud, but only to be followed by a sigh. "That's one of my mates, Taehyung. He was looking for this guy that he has some sort of a quarrel with."

"Oh shit, was he looking to fight him?" Yoongi asks, genuinely surprised. He had heard the school was one of the lowest in bullying in the region, so he wasn't expecting it.

Hoseok smiles at that, shaking his head. "If you mean play fight, then yes. The two of 'em don't actually hate each other. Just have a, uh, very interesting friendship."

Yoongi lets out a soft 'oh,' before continuing taking to Hoseok. He ends up asking him about the classes he takes, how old he is and about his friend group. It's easy to talk to him, it seems. It's nice to talk to someone, especially when you're in a new country seemingly alone. It's scary, but Yoongi has a feeling it's going to be a bit more bearable because of his afternoon bus rides. But eventually, all good things come to an end and Hoseok sighs as he presses the red button next to their shared seat, announcing that he has to get off.

"Well, this is my stop." He lifts up his school bag from in front of his seat and stands, signaling Yoongi to move to the left so he can get off. Yoongi sits back down as the bus turns into the stop.

Hoseok's between the back door of the bus when he turns around to face Yoongi,

"See you tomorrow, yeah?"

Yoongi denies that he really, really likes the idea of seeing Hoseok the next day.

As the days, eventually weeks go on, Yoongi and Hoseok have seemingly bloomed a friendship between the two of them, even dubbing each other the ridiculous nickname "bus buddies," but it's ironic, of course. They've even extended their friendship off of the bus, sitting next to each other in their shared classes. Every afternoon they catch the two buses together, (if they manage to get a seat near each other on the first, considering the sheer amount of student bodies), talking away the hours until they reach their homes. Hoseok has even introduced Yoongi to a year 13 friend of his, Seokjin, who catches the bus sometimes.

It's fun, it's simple and it's a good way to relax after school.

That is until Jeon Jungkook shows up.
