Female voices continue to be under-represented in movie reviews, roughly two males to every one female reviewing. If twice the number of men voted as women we'd be horrified. But in film reviewing we hear the subjective thoughts of men about twice as much as we hear those of women.
So I review, in part, to encourage other women that they too can share their thoughts on films. You don't need to be an "expert"... and I'm certainly not. But if you see films, you can write a review, even if it is only a single sentence, to tell people what you thought.
I recommend reading the report "Thumbs Down" (2019) by Martha M. Lauzen phd, which is where these graphs documenting the gender-gap in USA reviewing come from.
I also don't claim to be reviewing for "all woman-kind"... I'm just adding another female voice to the mix.
