saturday, december six, twenty-fourteen

• • •

the next week,
she was sitting
on the right side
of the sofa,
her head in a book
entitled in cold blood.

• • •

her legs
were pulled up and
crossed underneath her,
because it was the most
comfortable position
for a girl as
uncomfortable as her.

• • •

"hey,"
a voice soft
but concise
brought her out
of her concentration.
he was looking at her,
expression emotionless
as always.
"he just called you up."

• • •

it was the first time
she had heard him speak
directly to her,
and for a second
she could do nothing
but stare.

• • •

he slouched back
in his spot and
closed his eyes,
and the moment was over.

• • •

she opened her mouth,
but bit back the question.
too nervous.
too anxious.
too scared

• • •

standing up,
she started to reach
for her electric guitar,
when she noticed
that his Taylor was already out
and in his hands,
which were reached towards her.

she didn't even have to ask.

• • •

giving a half smile,
she took it
and nodded,
before heading towards
the stage.

• • •

she tried very hard
not to look at him,
but the butterflies
in her stomach betrayed her
and she strummed a g chord
with her eyes looking for his.

• • •

I don't like him,
she tried to tell herself.
I don't...
I like him.

• • •

he was asleep,
or at least his eyes were shut,
like they always were.
but instead of
the indifferent scowl
on his lips,
there was the hint of a smile.
one that reflected off the
grin on her own face.

If the story progression seems slow, it is. But it will quicken soon. c; Dedicated to Tiff because my love for her is too big to put into words.
