"If tomorrow comes and I forget about this, and I forget about you, will you still love me?"
Yesterday. Love. Nothing else matters to Lee Gabriel than Odyssey Lee. If love was a manifestation, iyon ay ang pag-ibig ni Lee. At unti-unti rin yong naram...
"Parang 'yun lang eh." Dugtong ni Lee habang minamasahe naman ang sariling paa. Pero nagulat siya sa mga susunod na sinabi nito. Bigla na lang. Walang kahit ano. Walang preamble. Walang pasakalye.
"I liked him."
"Ah...." She didn't know what to react. Of course she knew this. Dani has liked Odi. Hindi man ganoon ka-obvious, pero babae siya.
Dati pa lang, alam niya naman kung sino-sino silang nagkakainteres sa naglalakad na bloke ng yelo na 'yun. And a part of Lee thought they might really end up together.
"Maybe... maybe uhm." Lee is struggling for words. She has never imagine she will have this kind of conversation with Dani. But her respect for her shots so high up for being as honest as this. "Maybe because I chased him too hard."
"Maybe it's true." Danielle replied honestly na nagbigay ng kaunting bigat sa dibdib ni Lee. Dani didn't even put in some flowery words, o kahit itanggi kahit kaunti na nahulog si Odi sa kanya dahil hinabol-habol niya. But she just smiled because, it was true. She also won't agree if Dani will try to jest her.
"But I hope you don't chastise yourself whenever other girls point that out. Because women have all the right to love and express their love, too. Hindi naman masama na maunang magmahal."
Ngumiti si Lee.
"At kung naging kasing-tapang mo siguro ako, hindi rin naman ako mapapansin." She looks into Odyssey and Mizzy's direction with pain in her eyes.
"Dani..."
"Basta, mangako ka na 'di mo siya iiwan. Paalis na kayo hindi ba?" Dani pertains to their Singapore plans. Kalat na kalat na rin kasi ito sa school. Two young hearts with brave and grand plans. Hindi nila naisip kung gaano kalaking bagay ang ginagawa nila dahil ang gusto lang naman ni Lee ay makasama si Odi at makapag-aral ito ng maayos.
"Hindi pa dumadating 'yung acceptance letter pero sigurado namang pasado." Lee confidently replied.
"So, you promise?"
"Huh?"
"You promise you won't leave him? Because if you let him go, I will take him." Danielle said, half-meaning it.
"Ako nanligaw 'di ba? Bakit ko papakawalan?" Nakangiting sabi ni Lee because at that moment, she was sure there would be no reason for her to leave him. Magunaw man ang mundo.
Maya-maya ay tumigil ang tugtog at biglang nagsalita ang emcee.
"We are now announcing our King and Queen of the Night!"
Naghiyawan ang mga estudyante habang naramdaman ni Lee na nakahawak na si Odyssey sa balikat niya. Nakaupo na ito ulit sa tabi niya habang si Mizzy ay pagod na pagod na umupo sa katabing upan.
Gaganti pa lang ng yakap si Lee kay Odi nang kinailangan na naman nitong tumayo.
"Simon Odyssey Lee, and Danielle Garcia!" Anunsyo ng emcee.
"Yes namaaan!" Pinagpapalo ni Eli ang likod ni Odi habang itinutulak ito papunta ng stage.
"Don't be jealous." Bulong ni Odyssey kay Lee.
Ngumiti lang si Lee dahil hindi naman talaga. In fact she was more concerned on Dani's blisters.
Nakatingin lang si Lee sa dalawa habang nilalagyan ng sash at kinokoronahan bilang King and Queen of the Night.
Sure, they look perfect, but Lee knows she's not letting him go.
