It shrieked, shaking L off and running back away from the two of them. It barely made it through the row of cars when it exploded in a torrent of ash and goo. L sighed in relief and turned to Móra, who had already started walking in the direction the Goblin was. L glanced the way they came, she wanted so badly to go back and help.
But Bryce's words rang in her mind, he had been fighting Demons for decades. And if he said they'd be fine then her priority was to help Móra and regroup with the others afterwards. She turned and ran after Móra, she had faith in her friends' abilities and strengths, they would be okay. Meanwhile, she needed to focus on fixing Móra's problem so she could get back to her friends and her own mission.
L and Móra dashed down numerous streets and pathways, presumably following the scent of the Goblin they were looking for. Thankfully Móra already had the scent they needed because L got the distinct feeling it wouldn't be the only Goblin in Edinburgh. They craved bloodshed, old or new, they didn't care. With the history of the city, it would be no surprise to find a great number of the creatures. She just had to hope the one they were looking for was alone when they got there.
Móra stopped abruptly at the end of the street, she was staring up at something. L followed her gaze and her jaw dropped at the sight of the castle in front of them. L knew every detail about the castle and all of its previous occupants, both human and Supernatural, dating back further than the tenth century. Not that the information made seeing it in person any less awe inspiring.
"It's in there." Móra signed to L, not taking her dark, withdrawn eyes off the castle.
L eyed the structure; she knew how many exits and windows there were, how many corridors to run down and how easy it would be to lose the Goblin should it try to run. L felt a sense of repetition when she realised what she would need to do to help Móra. She signed the plan back to her, for fear they may be overheard. They agreed on the finer details and ran for the main gateway, that would lead them to the inner grounds.
Luckily for them, the time of night meant there would be no visitors inside should a fight break out. Ordinary people may not be able to see the Supernatural but it wouldn't stop them being effected by it. L unlocked the gate with a little magic, locking it up behind them with a little more. The scent was so strong here, L could identify the Goblin immediately, and she was glad to note there was only one.
Móra took the lead now, marching towards the large front doors. L opened them with more magic, though she was sure Móra hadn't planned to stop even if they'd stayed locked. Móra ran ahead and L barely had time to look around, not that she couldn't see it all in the archives of her mind- but seeing it with her own eyes would have been nice.
She sighed and ran after Móra, she didn't need her getting herself killed after they'd come all this way. Goblins may be small, tricky creatures but they could also be extremely dangerous, they needed cautious handling.
It was barely a minute later when Móra stopped with L alongside her, they'd reached a set of open doors and the hall beyond was something to behold. Seeing it from the doorway was enough to note its grandeur. The Great Hall was elegant, but it also had some poignant and bloody moments in its history. L could understand why a Goblin would stay there.
Móra allowed L to go in first, as agreed, and L prepared herself for anything the Goblin might attempt. She walked slowly into the hall of red and brown, with its high beamed ceiling which was an architectural beauty, according to experts. But L wasn't looking up, she'd spotted the Goblin sat on a pile of weapons it had taken from stands against the walls. Its small, thin limbed body was scrunched over the pile of wood and metal.
L could make out its pinched face through the gloom of the hall, it was grinning, exposing sharp teeth that appeared to be stained reddish-brown. A blood red, drooping, pointy hat covered its head and hung over one shoulder. L had to push aside the knowledge regarding the significance of the colour of the clothes, and the hat itself, she needed to focus.
