9 - Double Trouble

Start from the beginning

I reach the booth they're in and find that Liam's 'new friends' are two girls. The one by the wall has brown hair with a blue streak in her bangs and is wearing a black tank top that has rips with red showing underneath. The girl beside her has reddish hair and is wearing a black shirt with some strange symbol across it in yellow.

What the hell is that? I wonder, suddenly very curious about whatever is on the odd girl's shirt. "Hullo," I mutter as I take my seat to the right of Liam.

"Hi there!" the red-haired girl yelps.

"Hello," the brunette murmurs.

"Hey," my boyfriend coos from besides me, patting my back. "Ladies, this is… Well, you know who he is," Liam adds.

I smile at the two girls and stretch my right arm across the table to shake their hands. "Nice to meet you," I force myself to say.

"I'm Morgan," the girl by the wall tells me, taking my hand.

"And I'm Rayne," the girl in the strange shirt explains.

"And I'm guessing Liam didn't tell you that you're in my seat, aye?" I tease the girl named Rayne.

Rayne's face turns crimson, but she manages to be firm when she states, "Just because you're famous doesn't mean you get first dibs on seats." She pauses a moment before adding, "Besides, I always sit where my left-handedness won't affect anyone at the table."

"Honestly, I was kidding. I mean, I'm also left-handed, but I'm sure Liam won't mind if I elbow him a few times while we eat," I tease. "By the way, what the hell is the yellow thing on your shirt?" I find myself asking.

"Half of the Batman symbol, duh."

Morgan laughs at the way her friend answers my question before apologizing. "I'm really sorry about Rayne. She seems to think it's okay to be obnoxious," she tells me, pretending to whisper just to annoy her red-haired friend.

"And crazy," Liam inputs. "She's absolutely mental."

"You guys are mean," Rayne whines.

The banter between us all continues until a waitress comes to take our orders, at which point we all stop talking and decide what to eat and drink. As soon as the waitress is gone, though, we're all joking around again.

"You're kidding! I thought the internet was lying when it told me that you had only ever read the one book," Rayne gasps after I confess that the only real book I've read is 'To Kill A Mockingbird' by Harper Lee.*

"It's the only one," I repeat.

"Yeah, the fans don't need to worry about Niall ever reading their fanfictions or anything because he can't be bothered to read anything longer than a page. And that's with pictures," Liam quips.

I turn to glare at my boyfriend while the two girls laugh. "Rude," I complain, making a heart with my hands and then breaking it, just like Liam used to do in these situations.

"My sister always does that!" Rayne half-shouts, grinning like a madwoman.

"Liam used to do it all the time," I tell her without thinking.

"Really? I think I would have heard about this," the redhead replies.

"I did not," Liam whimpers.

"Yeah you did! It was back at Coláiste Mhuire, remember?" I try to reiterate.

"Uhm, Coláiste Mhuire is in Mullingar. Liam is from Wolverhampton," Morgan points out. "What on earth are you talking about?"

"Shit," I mumble, realizing what I've done. That's two slip-ups today. Damn it.
