Lowell and Brigitte were standing and clapping, leaning into each other while they watched Bryce approach and stand beside L.
"You've got some explaining to do," L whispered up to him with a raised brow.
He grinned and turned to Brigitte and Lowell. Once the clapping had died down, the rest of the occupants returned to their own conversations.
"That was more beautiful than I remember. When did you write that one?" Brigitte asked, wiping a tear from her eye.
"Several months ago, but thank you, your praise is always appreciated."
L was trying to calculate if he wrote that before they'd met or in the time since, when both Brigitte and Lowell turned to her.
"And it's obvious where those feelings came from," Lowell commented, eyeing Bryce with a genuine smile.
Bryce shrugged when L glanced up at him.
"You wrote a song because of me?"
"Not exactly... I'll explain later," Bryce said quietly, L could see the blush as plain as day.
Lowell and Brigitte both chuckled, and L could hear a snicker coming from Robbie.
"The way you two were looking at each other, I thought our little inn might spontaneously combust." Brigitte remarked with a wink.
"With feelings like that, it's surprising he hasn't written more songs about you, Keeper."
L blinked in surprise. She still wasn't used to anyone knowing who she was before she'd even met them, she had always been the nobody who stuck to the shadows. Being at the base and meeting with those Supernatural individuals who needed her help was different, they'd sought her out and had confirmation first. Meeting complete strangers in the outside world, hearing them call her by her title before even knowing her name was a little jarring.
Luckily, Bryce wasn't so affected, "Yeah, about that... can we go somewhere private to talk?"
The serious tone of his voice threw Lowell and Brigitte for a moment, but they quickly sobered and nodded. Suddenly, all six of them were sitting in a cosy living room, warming themselves by a large, roaring fire. The decor of white and brown was homely, what looked like family photos dotted the room and a huge television was nestled into a cabinet of electronics.
The group occupied three sofas and interestingly they'd been separated into couples. L amused herself by wondering if it was on purpose.
"This is as private as it gets. Not a single soul could listen in. Would you like to tell us what's going on, Bryce?"
Bryce let out a long breath and peered at L as though for permission. It took a second to realise he was asking if he could tell them everything. He seemed to trust them, that was good enough for her, and she nodded her approval. Bryce explained what they were doing there and what they had to do next. That they needed somewhere to rest without worry of being attacked, and that L being out in the open could spell trouble for them.
L was beginning to understand Bryce's worrying, it wasn't just for their group but also for his friends and their inn. A whole horde of Demons could turn up should anyone leak that L is there, and they'd lay waste to the inn just to get to her. However, Lowell and Brigitte seemed to find Bryce's worry for them amusing.
"You have such a good heart, Brycathlen, but we've encountered much worse and come through the other side. None of you should have to sacrifice basic needs because you may bring a little trouble our way, we can handle ourselves just fine." Brigitte leaned over and patted Bryce's arm.
