CHAPTER 22
"Jay, keys. Remote," Ben says as he tosses them to Jay as they go down the stairs to the limo. "Wait! Something's wrong," Evie says before pulling Ben's beanie down. "There." "Shotgun!" Dude calls. "No, Dude. Stay. The Isle is way too dangerous," Carlos orders Dude while Evie, Ben, Mal, and Jay look at him shocked. "Did he just..." Mal starts to ask. "Talk? Yeah. I know. Tell you later," Carlos answers Mal. "Let's go," Ben says and Evie nods in agreement. "Okay, once we cross the bridge, park under the pier in the old garage. Got it?" Evie tells Jay as he drives off. "Got it," Jay says. They cross over to the Isle of the Lost. "Ben, help me with the tarp," Carlos says as they get out of the limo. They bring the tarp over before tossing a side to Jay and Evie. "It's really weird being back here," Mal says as Jay fixes the tarp. "We'll get in and get out," Jay tells her as Carlos and Ben bring a second tarp over. Carlos, Jay, and Evie cover the rest of the car while Ben walks over to a tunnel. "Hey, what's in here?" Ben asks. "Ben!" Carlos says as he pulls Ben away. "You don't want to know," Jay answers his question. "Hey, guys. Keep it chill, all right? The last thing we need is our parents figuring out we're here," Carlos says before Mal, Jay and Evie nod in agreement. "Hey!" Evie says as a kid runs into her. "Hey! Stop." Another kid grabs her wallet before she grabs both of them. Evie looks at their sad faces. "Just take it. Go on." Evie then turns to Mal and the boys to find Ben not there. "Ugh. Ben." Ben walks over to a pirate leaning against a post. He holds his hand out to shake but the pirate growls at him. "Ben, stop. Just stop," Evie says as she pulls him away from the pirate. "Hey, man!" Carlos says as he and Jay stand up to the pirate, who walks off. "Why?" Ben asks Evie. "This isn't a parade. It's the Isle," Evie answers him. "Keep your hands in your pockets unless you're stealing," Jay tells him. "You either slouch or strut," Carlos adds. "And never, ever smile," Mal also adds. "Okay, thank y...," Ben starts. "No! No "thank you's," and drop the "please," too," Evie tells him. "Just...chill." "Let me tell you something you can really trust Everybody's got a wicked side I know you think that you could never be like us Watch and learn so you can get it right," Evie starts singing. "You need to drag your feet You need to nod your head You need to lean back Slip through the cracks You need to not care," Jay, Mal, Evie, and Carlos sing as they dance. "Uh, you need to not stare," Carlos sings as he turns Ben's face. "You need a whole lotta help," They sing as Jay takes Ben's wallet. "You need to not be yourself," Mal sings as she points to Jay. Ben quickly grabs his wallet back. "You wanna be cool Let me show you how Need to break the rules I can show you how And once you catch this feeling." Evie and Mal sing. "Yeah, once you catch this feeling You'll be chillin', chillin' Oh Chillin' like a villain Chillin' Chillin' like a villain Chillin' Chillin' like a villain Hey! Chillin' like Chillin' like Hey! A villain" They sing and dance as Ben tries to dance with them. A guy walks up to Ben before opening his coat to reveal trinkets. Ben grabs something before going to grab his wallet but Evie pulls him away before he can and the guy disappears. "You draw attention when you act like that Let us teach you how to disappear You look like you would lose a fight to an alley cat You gotta be wrong to get it right 'round here" Evie sings as her, Jay, Mal, and Carlos stand on a fence. "You need to watch your back You need to creep around You need to slide real smooth Don't make a sound And if you want it, take it And you can't take it, break it If you care about your health," They sing and dance while Ben tries to follow them on the ground. "Seriously, you need to not be yourself," Mal sings as they get off of the fence. "You wanna be cool Let me show you how Need to break the rules I can show you how And once you catch this feeling." Evie sings as they sit on the fence before Ben starts to follow along. They hop off of the fence. "Yeah, once you catch this feeling You'll be chillin', chillin' Oh Chillin' like a villain Chillin' Chillin' like a villain Chillin' Chillin' like" They sing as Ben starts to dance along with them. "I really wanna be bad a lot And I've giving it my best shot But it's hard being what I'm not," Ben sings as he hugs Jay, then walks behind Mal and Evie before wrapping his arms around Evie and Carlos. "Well, if you don't you're gonna get us caught," Carlos sings. "He's right, we gotta stay low-key," Mal sings. Now show us how bad you can be" Evie sings. "Like this?" Ben asks as he pulls out Evie's sunglasses and puts them on. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" Evie sings. "Like this?" Ben asks again as he pulls out Jay's wallet and Carlos' phone. They quickly snatch their items back. "Oh, yeah, I think I got this. Let's go, I'm ready to rock this. And I ain't gonna thank you for your help I think I found the worst in myself" Ben sings causing them to smile before they wrap their arms around each other and start walking. "You wanna be cool Let me show you how Need to break the rules I can show you how And once you catch this feeling," Evie sings as they all dance. Chillin' like a villain" They all sing and dance before Ben continues forward. "Hey, man. Hey!" Gil says as he runs into Ben causing the others to rush over. "Hey, I know you!" "Uh, no. Don't know you, either, man," Ben says. "Uh, yeah, you do. Come on, man. Really? Huh? Dude, I'll give you a hint. My dad is quick, slick and his neck... Huh? is incredibly thick. Come on, man. I kn..." Gil explains before taking notice of the poster behind Ben. "Huh? Huh. Huh? Huh." The poster is of Ben and Madi. "Oh! You're King Ben!" "Okay, let's go," Evie says as they pull Ben away. "Yeah, yeah, you totally are King Ben, and you're J...Jay, Carlos, Mal, Evie. Hey, guys," Gil says before he realizes something. "Oh, Uma's gonna love this!"
