"What kind of weird activity?"

"It's hard to explain, the people aren't moving properly and it smells funny."

L frowned, his words didn't make much sense. "Okay, we'll check it out."

"Okay, call out if you need me."

"What did Robbie say?" Nyla asked suddenly, her cheeks flushed.

"How did you know I was talking to Robbie?" L asked through a half smile.

"Because your eyes go a little blank... and you didn't answer Bryce."

L's brow raised, usually she could hear everything around her even while talking to Robbie. "What did you say?" She asked of him.

Bryce smirked and shrugged, "What you're most likely about to tell us anyway."

L told them what Robbie had said about the town, Bryce's smirk quickly faded and he gripped his sword tighter.

"Let's go."

Before either L or Nyla could ask him what was wrong he was speed walking towards the town.

L turned to the Golems, "We will kill the Demon, no more throwing boulders."

They nodded their large grey heads and headed off into the woods, away from the town. L nodded to Nyla and they followed after Bryce, who had almost made it to the town.

"Bryce, what is it?" L wasn't sure what had set him off, Robbie's description was pretty vague and yet Bryce reacted as though he recognised something in it.

"I can't be sure, we need more information."

L knew there was more he wasn't telling her but he must have had his reasons. She decided to leave him to it, following with Nyla as the three of them made their way quietly to the outskirts of the town. It was fairly small, there looked to be around fifty houses, styled in red brick and slate roofs, some in better condition than others. There were a few other nondescript buildings and trees lining some of the paths, but nothing unusual stood out.

They climbed one of the houses in silence, edging over the roof until they could see down into the streets. Everything appeared to be fine, that is until they looked closer at the people. Robbie was right, they were moving strangely. They were taking one step and then stopping, all at the same time and the same pace.

They weren't looking up, or talking to each other; it seemed like the whole town was out on the streets. They were expressionless, their eyes glazed over, they could have easily been mistaken for zombies.

"What's going on?" Nyla gasped, her voice full of the horror they saw in front of them.

"I wish I knew, they're like zombies," L expressed, for once she didn't have any answers.

"Not zombies... puppets." Bryce breathed, his voice barely more than a whisper.

His face had turned ashen, his grip on his sword was making his knuckles pop.

"Bryce, what do you know?" L felt chills at his words and his reaction, she was equally concerned and curious.

"This is the work of a Demon unlike any you've ever met before, I doubt even your Keeper's knowledge will have anything on this one."

"Why is that?"

"Because there are usually no survivors to tell the tale and when there are... they're too scared or horrified to speak of it."

L's chills intensified, "So, which one are you?"

Bryce glanced to her, his face a mask of anger but L could see something behind his eyes, he turned away before she could decipher which it was.
