CHAPTER ONE
•
"Your past nor your future can not define who you are in the present"
•

We were caste aside; assumed to be spawns of the devil. Our blood ran black when cut, the sores never concluded. Constrained into the darkest forest, where the grievous monsters roamed in the night, falling into an inescapable slumber during the day. The grass was low, rarely peeping the sun. Old gray trees surrounded us; the trees that never grew nor died. Only demons can survive in such a harsh environment; demons we were not.

Her body lay flat, her once vibrant skin was pale an lousy. Cracked lips and the blading spots in her hair. So young yet so hapless. Soon we would all be just like Emma. The very few living now; the 3 of us. Verena held Emma in her shaking arms, bring her exposed chest to meet her face. I stood silently, holding Conrad's hand whom shook vigorously. His hard stare was hurt, slowly loosing hope in his own eyes.

"We're going to die if we don't leave this place grandpa" Verena cried, allowing the dark black blood thrusting from the large cut to slur into her arm. Small black drops plastered on her tear stained face; red from anger.

Conrad lowered his head, tightening his grip onto my hands. Slightly rubbing the palm of my hand with his weak fingers. I rested my head on his arm, releasing some of the pain he was going through. Trying to place a touch ever so gentle.

"I understand your request Verena, but I might be too old to try escaping. You two should escape; an old gent like me would only hold you back" He forced a smile, Letting his wrinkled checks curve his teary eyes.

Verena lowered Emma's small body, rubbing her cheeks before laying the last of our blankets on her. I stepped down, placing a blessing upon her many for years of peaceful slumber.

"We can't leave you behind, You're the only family I have left" She begged, holding her hands at her chest. Slowly reaching to grab his shivering ones. Rubbing it slowly with her dark stained fingers.

More tears slipped from his eyes, placing his hands on each other side of her head gently pulling it closer to kiss it. Subsequently they hugged tightly, crying onto the shoulders of one another.

Small whispers escaped from his mouth, leaving Verena with a small look of shock before nodding her head obediently. Her sharp eyes cut towards me, showing a menacing glare. I questioned her with my eyes, but she just sighed. Wiping the tears from her face aggressively.

Part of me knew I was disliked by everyone. Verena, Emma, and sometimes Conrad. They would tell stories of how we use to survive easily. Our powers were strong, our black blood ran thick, no matter what we got attacked by we could survive, why our names were paired to warrior.Living was easy for us, but soon a child was born, and the powers started to drain. People got weaker, Monsters weren't afraid to approach, and the nights grew longer.

I soon became known as the child that killed us all. Some say I stole their powers and out of hate killed my parents. Sewing the lips of those who tried to warn them, torturing the women who wanted to feed me, hanging the children who smiled at me.

Anon Conrad came, the oldest and most wisest in the 'village' convinced them how harmless I was. Showing that they'd lost their powers because they lost the love of the gods. I soon became the only one who could heal them. Still their glares were scary, and anger and fear took over. We split up, killed each other, killed ourselves, and some even tried leaving.
