The staircase was damp and dark as two siblings descended down the long narrow stone steps. The girl brushed away a cobweb as they reached the bottom of the stairs, leading into a long dark hallway lined with many doors. Each doorknob was locked shut with rust from the water leaking through the ceiling. Damp air flowed through a few wall vents, giving enough of a breeze to notice the smell. Dead rats lay on the stone floor every now and then, which the siblings walked past like they had done it many times before.
Their destination was a door at the end of the hallway. What lay beyond the door was a closely kept secret from all who dared to travel down here, even the siblings. All they knew was that this was the new location for which to meet him.
As they came to the door, the boy reached for the handle but turned it to no avail. The girl pushed him to the side and knocked with a sigh of frustration. After a few seconds, they received their response.
"You may come in."
The door clicked and slide open, a cloud of mist flowing out. It felt cool as it brushed over their skin, almost safe feeling.
The siblings walked into the room as the door closed behind them. It was dark, with only a small light coming from the oneway window in the wooden door they had just come through. The concrete walls disappeared into the darkness, giving the room the feeling of going on forever.
A figure stood in the darkness, just out of sight. "I trust you understand why I moved us to here?"
The girl nodded then spoke. "We made sure we weren't seen, just like you asked."
If they could have seen the figure, they might have caught the smile that flashed across their lips. "Good."
The two siblings waited for the figure to continue as a minute passed.
"Starting tomorrow, I want you two to begin our plan. We've wasted too much time already."
The boy nodded in his quiet slight way as his sister spoke for them both. "We've been waiting for this day to come."
"I expect you can make sure it goes flawlessly then?"
"No one will get in our way, I'll make sure of it."
"Good." The figure turned his back to them and walked into the waiting shadows.
As the siblings left, the door closing behind them, the figure smiled. Everything was going according to plan, and soon this building would be under much better hands. It may not be much, but even the greats started small. Garmadon needed the weapons to conquer Ninjago in the same way they needed this pile of brick to bring the city, and the realm, into much better hands.
