Chapter 10

After the whole barn thing I confronted Shane.
"Shane! What the hell was that?!? We could get kicked off this farm now" I yell at him.
"Baby, I did it to protect you, you and our baby is my main priority right now, and I will do anything to protect you two. " Shane said hugging me.
"Harper!" Yells my dad. Shit he saw us, Shane and I both had a panicked look, as my dad comes walking over,
Shane excuses himself and leaves my dad and I.
"Harper, is there something I need to know about?" He asked.
"Mom probably already told u" I said
"Oh she did, but I want to hear it from you."
"Fine! Yes ok? Shane and I are together. It was rough at first but we love eachother and we can't stay apart from eachother, and dad, I'm pregnant " I say.
"He got you pregnant ?!?"
Oh shit.
"Dad! Please. Please understand ok? It takes two to create a baby, it wasn't just him, it was me too, I love Shane. I know a lot of you guys will think it's weird and gross with age difference but honestly it's the end of the world, who cares anymore ?" I let out and I start to cry.
My dads eyes softened a bit. Seeing how torn I was about this.
"Fine. This doesn't mean I like it, or approve, but you are my daughter, an adult daughter at that, and I love you very much, if he makes you happy then fine. He better protect my babygirl, and grandchild" my dad said hugging me.
I choke out a 'thank you' and ' i love you too'
•time skip to later that night•

Rick left with Glenn to go find Hershel since he just upped an left, Beth in is some sort of shock or something. And well the whole group knows about us now, it's a bit awkward but nice because now Shane and I don't have to sneak around. Some were happy some weren't. Like my mom, Andrea and dale. Same ones that didn't like the fact I was pregnant either. Carl was stoked tho, he was gonna be a big brother and an uncle. My mom was also an idiot and went after my dad and Glenn. Shane brought her back though.
We waited the night.
They still weren't back.
So we were getting ready to leave and look for them when they pulled up. I ran over and hugged my dad. I'm just happy he's not mad at me.
They apparently brought some random kid back that was shooting at them, so we are all discussing on what to do.
"I'm sorry guys, but we have to do what's best for this group, my mom is pregnant, I have a baby brother and I am pregnant. My priority is protecting my family. And I say kill him."
"How could you ? He's like your age!" Dale says.
"He might be my age, but he shot at my dad and bestfriend. What if does the same ? We kill him. End of story."
"Wow, it's no wonder you and Shane are together. You are just like him. Murderers." Dale says looking right at me.
In that moment I knew.
I knew exactly what he was talking about. He knew we killed Otis.
He walked out of the house in a huff, and I leaned more into Shane grasping his hand tighter. He squeezed it reassuring me.
"Then it's decided. We kill him." My dad said. I was sitting in Shane's tent, which I can now share, I'm so happy I was putting all my stuff around the tent, when I heard screaming. I got up and ran out towards the field. Daryl was already there screaming for help. Everyone soon came. I look down and see dale was ripped open from a walker. I turn into Shane and cry on his chest.

•next morning•

After Dales funeral, my dad decided to keep Randall alive for him, so Shane and my dad will be driving out and leaving him. Hershel said he's moving us in. But Shane and I are gonna stay out, it'll be cramped. I'm packing all our stuff and putting it in my truck.
Since it's big I'll be ok for awhile sleeping in here.
I know it won't he comfortable when I'm further along but for right now it works. I'm sitting in the drivers seat just rubbing my belly smiling, wow I'm really having a baby.
With Shane even.
Rick and Shane come driving up fast my dad is dragging Randall back to the shed, but my dad looks beat up and so does Shane.
Shane comes jumping into the car.
"What happened ?" I ask.
"We had a talk" Shane says.
"That doesn't look like a talk to me" I said.
"Harper. Rick said you are not mine. You will never be mine. And that baby, that baby your carrying that I can't protect it. That it's better off without me." I gasped. I never thought my dad could say such harsh words to Shane.
"Shane baby, I am yours, and this baby is yours. And you are more then capable of protecting us" I said leaning over and kissing Shane.
• few days later •

Things were getting smooth. Everyone was getting the hand of things.
I was helping Shane build a look out post when Andrea came and asked if I can bring Randal his lunch.
Shane didn't like this but I told him it's ok and I'll be fine.
I walked over and gave him food.
"Thank you ?" Randal questions.
"Harper, Harper Grimes" I say with a smile.
"Oh your ricks daughter ?"
"Yes I am" I said and walk out the shed.
As it was getting dark Shane and I were sitting around finding baby names we liked. We decided if it was a boy for it to be Dylan Cade Walsh and a girl Melody Rose Walsh.
We were having a great time when a gunshot sounded.
"Stay here" Shane said and ran over to check it out with Rick, Daryl, and Glenn. After a while Daryl and Glenn made it back and said they don't know who shot that gun but it attracted a bunch of walkers, and that's when my mom said Carls missing. I told everyone we have to leave. And I started packing things and running to the cars. I can't get all of it but atleast I can get some.
"Shane!" I yell I can't find him. I run over to the shed where Randall is, and untie him. I give him a gun.
"I better trust you. Or you'll regret it." I seethed.
"You can count on me I promise" Randal said.
We ran over and started killing walkers.
I felt blood splatter all over my shoulder and I turned around,
"Sorry" Randal said and he shot a walker way to close to me.
"Don't worry about it!"
I yelled back.
It started to get over run, the barn was on fire, I haven't seen Shane. I can't loose him.
"Harper I'm out! We have to go!" Randal yelled grabbing my arm.
I finally gave in, Shane would want me to be safe, not to worry about him.
"Get to that black truck!" I yelled running.
We got to the drunk and jumped in. I pushed on the gas, driving out of this hell hole, running over walkers as I do so.
"Randal, thank you, you saved me and maybe lives today." I said.
"It's not really a big problem I mean, you guys saved me just repaying the debt."
"Yes but thank you, would you want to be in this group? If we find them"
"That would be nice"
After that the car went silent. I went to the highway hoping others would too. When we got there, I saw my dad and baby brother.
I parked and ran out hugging them and crying. That was until they saw Randal.
"No no no no! He saved and watched my back. He's good. He protected and fought for this group along my side." I said standing in front of Randal.
My dad then walked over to Randal and hugged him,
"Thank you" he said.
"Oh uh your welcome" Randal said hugging back awkwardly. I giggle until I hear a cough.
"Whose that?" I say wanting to know whose in the car.
"Shane" Carl says.
I run to the car and see him there.
"Oh my gosh Shane what happened !? " I shrieked crying seeing blood on his side.
" it's nothing bad, don't worry Harper, I nicked it on a nail in the barn." He said. "Then why you acting like your dying ?"
"Well I ran for my life, fought like a dog. I'm tired." Shane said with a smile. I lean down and kiss him, smiling to have the love of my life back.
"Hear Randal saved you."
"Yeah he did. I wanted to stay and wait for you, but he insisted to leave that we will find you. And he was right." I said smiling. I then helped Shane out of the car, when we heard all the others show up. Tears brimmed my eyes and I saw the ones we lost.
We finally got to a place for camp for the night.
Everyone is now praising me for storing all those winter clothes I found. I am between Shane and Randal. Since not many trust Randal he's kind of an outsider to them, so he stays by me. I just hope they get use to it.
I leaned up against Shane and smiled, this is my family now, and I will do anything to protect them.
