surprise, surprise, michael and ashton never said goodbye. they were just kids, they didn't know any better.
calum took the opportunity, of course, to show himself to michael. he didn't wait like luke. luke knew ashton was easily frightened, so he was going to wait. but calum just appeared in front of michael's bed.
michael fell to his knees when he saw calum, thinking that was going crazy. he muttered the thought to himself over and over, pulling at his hair.
the sight broke calum's non-beating heart. he slowly went to his knees, cautiously lifting michael's head. michael just stared. "you're not real, th-this isn't real," he whispered, his voice cracking. calum cupped michael's face in his hands.
"shh," calum whispered back, moving his thumb back and forth on michael's cheek, "i've got you. i'm going to protect you. i love you, mikey. so so much. please, please don't be sad, baby."
"i miss you."
"i'm right here, i'm always gonna be right here."
michael sniffled, moving into the ghost's lap. calum held him close, and michael shivered. "you're so cold."
calum sighed. "i know."
