The teacher had given Dipper and Bill a free pass on being late for class, only because the teacher had been late herself and didn't realize they were even gone.

The rest of Dipper's morning classes went by quick. Soon enough, it was time for lunch.

Bill had all of his morning classes with Dipper, so he had walked with Dipper to all of his morning classes and to lunch. Bill set his bag down on Dipper's lunch table before going to grab lunch.

Dipper pulled out his down lunch. He was so focused on his food he didn't notice Will and Kill approach his table until Kill sat down across from Dipper at the small circle table.

"Is it-t o-oka-ay if-f we-we sit-t-t he-here?" Will asked. Dipper glanced at Kill, who seemed like he wasn't moving regardless of Dipper's response.

"Yeah. Go ahead." Dipper said. Will sat in the seat next to Kill, which was also next to Dipper on his left side, and across from where Bill was going to sit.

(The table is a small circular table with four seats. Here's how it is:

Kill

Will     O     Bill

Dipper

ind of a silly stupid diagram but it works.)

Bill came back with his lunch, visibly surprised that the other two Cipher brothers were sitting with Dipper.

"Hey bro." Kill said, not looking up from his phone.

Will just waved as his mouth was full of food.

"Hey guys. Didn't realize you were going to eat lunch with Pines too." Bill said. At the mention of Dipper's surname, Kill looked up.

"Yeah, Pines seems like an interesting dude. We should invite Pines to hang out with us sometime outside of school." Kill said, putting emphasis on 'Pines'.

"Yeah, are you busy after school today Pines?" Bill asked.

"No, I'd have to text my uncles and let them know I'm going to be home later." Dipper said.

"Hey Bill, I have quick question." Kill said.

"Yeah?" Bill said.

"Pines, what's his last name, I never caught it." Kill asked. Dipper was about to respond but Kill gave him a 'Wait for it' look.

"I didn't catch it either actually." Bill admitted.

"But you do know his first name right?" Kill asked.

"Obviously. It's Pines." Bill said as if he were answering a question from a toddler.

At that moment Kill bursted out laughing. Will was trying his best not to laugh. Even Dipper cracked a bit of a smile.

"What?" Bill asked.

"That's...not...his...NAME!" Kill said between laughs and breaths. Going into another fit of laughter at the last word.

"What? Of course it is." Bill said. He looked confused at Kill, then Will, then Dipper.

"Right?" Bill said, looking more confused than ever.

Dipper started laughing at the look of Bill's confused face. Which had probably been the first time Dipper had laughed in almost a year. Will snapped a picture of a confused Bill.

"My name...my name isn't Pines. That's my last name." Dipper said after said, calming down a bit.

"Wait really? How come you never corrected me?" Bill asked.

"I just thought it was a nickname." Dipper said, "That's why when you said it the first time yesterday I asked if you were Cipher. I figured you were a last name kind of guy."

"So what is your name?" Bill asked.

"Well, I don't really go by it anymore. Everyone just calls me Dipper." Dipper said.

"Oh, that explains the...thing." Bill said, hesitating after glancing at Will and Kill, realizing they probably didn't know about birthmark.

"So if that isn't your real name, what is?" Bill asked, eager to get to conversation off of what he had just said.

"I...I...it doesn't matter. Nobody calls me it anyway." Dipper said.

"Hey Stutters, I forgot my phone charger at home, can I borrow yours." Kill said.

"Y-Y-Yeah. It-It's in my l-lock-cker." Will said.

"Come with me, I don't know your code." Kill said. Will nodded and the two of them stood up.

"If were not back before lunch ends we'll see you in class Dip." Kill said. Dipper just nodded.

Kill and Will both left the lunchroom quickly.

"So...when did people start calling you Dipper anyway?" Bill asked.

"Well...when I was little it was a sort of a...insult from my father. Like a cruel joke almost. I hated it for most of my life. After a while it stuck. Even my...sis-friends...called me it. I'm not sure they realized why my father called me it. Eventually I just accepted it. One of my closest...friends eventually stopped calling me it, but I haven't really seen her since I lived in California." Dipper explained.

"Why...why would your dad do that?" Bill asked, "If you don't mind me asking." He quickly added.

"It's fine." Dipper reassured, "My father has always hated me. He thought the birthmark was a sort of curse. There was couple other reasons why he thought I was cursed too, over the years he just tried to find more reasons to hate me. Eventually he disowned me, that's kinda why I moved here."

"I'm..." Bill hesitated.

"Sorry? Yeah, I get it. But I'm over it. I could care less what he thinks. I'm happy where I am now...or at least,  I'm more at ease than I was anyway. My uncles are a lot more accepting." Dipper explained.

"I can sympathize with having a horrible Dad, but I think yours is definitely worse than mine. I'm glad you don't live with him anymore." Bill said. Dipper just nodded.

"Well, after hearing that I can't call you Dipper." Bill said.

"It's fine really. As long as you don't call me Little Dipper, it's fine. I'm really okay with it now." Dipper said. Bill shook his head.

"Hmm." Bill's eyes shot to Dipper's hat.

"Pine Tree." He finally said. Dipper actually cracked a genuine smile.

"Ok. Pine Tree works." Dipper said.

Just then the lunch bell rung.

"See ya after school Pine Tree." Bill said as he grabbed his stuff and left the lunch room.
