who's sonic?

The smell of smoke lingered in the warm air as three teenagers sat outside on a table bench set close to the office.

They spoke about dumb things and two of them, Scourge and Fiona held cigars in between their fingers puffing smoke after a couple moments. Manic wasn't much of a smoker, he sat on the seat of  the bench next to Scourge as Fiona sat on the table.

After a long drag and Manic's responce to a friendly game of Fuck Marry Kill, all teens shared a laugh and that's when the door of the office opened and out came running Shadow.

"Hey." Shadow said to the trio before walking to his car and looking through some things.

"Just look at him," Fiona whispered with pity in her voice. "He's dating a guy and doesn't even know it."

"I don't even understand why Sonic's so scared to tell him the truth." Manic sighed propping his elbows on the table top behind him. "I mean, if he really loved him he'd accept him for who he is right?"

"Right." Scourge said. "If you were some man in a dress and i didn't know it, I'd still love you."

"Hey wait a minute," Fiona paused at the green hedgehog's comment. "Wouldn't that make you.. Gay?!"

"Probably." Scourge shrugged. "I don't know how my homo genes work at this point."

As the two discussed, Manic hopped off his seat and met up with Shadow who was putting a small black box in his shirt pocket and closing the door of his car.

Crickets chirped as the night was lightened by the various lights of the city and passing cars. Manic took a deep breath catching the attention of Shadow who heard him from behind. The streaked hedgehog met his sight with a friendly smile, one that made Manic sad he had to be the one to break the news.

"Where are you taking me?" Sonic asked as Rouge dragged him across the halls of the office with Wave following. The noise of music and the work people having a good time kept others distracted.

The bat girl didn't answer and threw him in her office. Wave locked the door. They didn't turn on the lights.

...

Shadow greeted Manic with the classic "Hey buddy." He's been noting Manic wasn't very fond of him but he saw him as a good 21 year old kid.

"Hey Shadow." Manic sighed. "Listen Shadow, i promised Sonette i wouldn't tell you this but Sonette she's.. Hiding something away from you."

"Sonette's hiding something away me? Well, i guess that'd make us equal." Shadow giggled.

"What?"

"Imma tell you a little secret but you have to promise me not to tell Sonette."

Manic was used to this, it's what happens when you're brother's with a trap. "... Okay?"

..

"We could strap a collar on you." Rouge giggled as she kneeled down and caressed Sonic's chin in an uncomfortable manner. "We'll dress you up in girl's outfits and keep you as our little doll."

".. Um," Sonic tried to crawl away backwards but Wave grabbed him and trailed her beak from his neck up to his cheek. He's read too much hentai to know where this was going.

"You know how me and Sonette have been dating for 3 and a half years at this point?" Shadow asked, the more he thought about the words he'd form the more happy he got.

"Yeah.." Manic replied. "But what're you hiding?"

Shadow didn't say anything, he only grinned and leaned on his side on his car.

".. Wait.." It only took Manic a couple minutes to figure out what Shadow was gonna say, just talking about the years they've been together was all it took for Sonic's brother to put the pieces together. "Shadow.. No.." He shook his head in both shock and disappointment.

Shadow chuckled lowly. "Looks like you already know." Ebony fingers reach into his shirt pocket and begin to pull out the mysterious item.

..

"What the fuck are you doing, don't..!" Before Sonic could scream for help Wave shoved a piece of cloth in his mouth and pressed his face down on the floor. Rouge chuckled, this wasn't as humiliating as she planned but it was scarring.

Her fingers reach down at the hem of her own shirt and begin to slowly pull it up...

"Holy shit is that real?!" Manic screamed.

The black small box was opened revealing a ring encased in shimering diamonds that glistened under the light of the moon. Manic was amazed at such sight almost forgetting why he met up with Shadow in the first place.

Scourge and Fiona joined them and held the same reaction as Manic.

"Yeah it is." Shadow said proudly. "I bought it after the 3rd day we started dating. Had to sneak out of my own house so Mephiles wouldn't question me."

"You've been carrying that thing in your pocket for 3 and a half whole years? Fiona said in amazement. "Holy shit, that's true love right there i hope i find myself a man like you."

"Thanks," Shadow giggled putting it away. "I was thinking of proposing to her today, i was gonna wait until Christmas on the trip we planned to Orlando but.. fuck me, i can't wait any more!"

"Now?!" Manic asked suprised. "Don't you think you should wait a little?"

"Wait? For what? I already know i wanna spend my whole life with her so why should i wait?! I've had almost 4 years to make my decision and i think I'm happy with the one I've made." After having said that and how it left all three friends speechless, he began to walk away with one goal on his mind that made him smile to himself but a tug on his wrist stopped him.

"Well, couples tell eachother the truth and Sonic hasn't been telling you everything!" Manic screeched and he didn't have time to realize what he said quite frankly being proud.

"Who's Sonic?" Shadow asked. It kinda sounded like Sonette to him.

"Sonette's real name! She's a he Shadow a he, don't take this the wrong way okay i guess he just hadn't told you because he's scared."

"... Oh.." Shadow turned around, his smile was gone.

"Shadow?" Had Manic fucked up?

But their silence went away when a scream was heard from inside the building. Shadow's heard it too many times. The four looked at eachother before running inside.
