The fields are littered everywhere with dead Cybermen. Hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of them. Massive fields of dead Cybermen. The others are walking back down the hill, heading to the farm. There is a sound of nothing; no birds, no animals, no people. Nothing! They approach the house, trashed windows that have been smashed and broken. They had trashed the house, and the dead animals lying around across the farms. There is a sense of silence, sorrow, and misery among the four, as the Cybermen conquered and destroyed.
Peri:
James, I'm sorry...
James:
DON'T, Peri. I know.
Peri:
Your farm. The Cybermen did all this.
James:
Yes. Yes they have.
Doctor:
Incompatible for the Cybermen. All of them destroyed. What about the nearest town from here?
Lust:
Empty.
James:
What? Completely?
Lust:
I'll show you.
She creates a field around them, an illusion that shows the desolate, abandoned Whitchurch around them. Nothing. Nothing around. No cats, birds, squirrels, and silence throughout.
Peri:
The Cybermen took everyone?
Lust:
Everyone.
James:
They took my dad. They took my farm and land. And now they've taken my town. What else do I have left now?!
Lust:
And of course...
She sort of smiles at him, cheekily.
Doctor:
We landed back where we were meant to alright. But we were still too late.
James:
Call yourself a Time Lord, Doctor!
Lust:
4,000 people, converted to Cybermen.
Peri:
Horrible.
Doctor:
Lust, you stopped the Cybermen from entering this time zone, didn't you?
Lust:
Yes?
Doctor:
Well it's obvious my dear. It won't be much longer until the Cybermen soon try again somewhere else.
Peri:
You mean another time zone?
Doctor:
Peri, there will always be Cybermen wherever there are human beings. Mondas. Telos. Earth.
She fades the illusion back to the farm.
We've got to get to Telos and stop the Cybermen from striking again. Come on!
Lust:
No, no wait! I can't go back there! I can't go back to Telos! I can't! I CAN'T!
Doctor:
Of course you can girl! Just did what you did before. It was easy enough!
Lust:
I was taken in that place, tortured, saw my family and my entire people be converted into those damn robots, and I had to run for my life and very nearly didn't escape!
James:
Lust, you're not the only one!
Doctor:
This is the only way you can stop the Cybermen! Please. Trust me!
She thinks hard for a moment.
Lust:
FINE!
Doctor:
Excellent! Now, to the TARDIS! RUN!
The Doctor runs speedily up the hill, like an excited child, leaving the others behind.
Peri:
HEY! WAIT FOR US!
James:
Does he often run off like that?
Peri:
Too often.
They sprint back after him.
