"I'm paying for some one to be here twenty four hours a day, so I expect some one to be here." I say as I run my hand over my beard

"I'm sorry, I had a family emergency, it won't happen again." Amy explains

"Well next time at least call me so I can come check on her, I'm worried about her falling again because she won't sit still." I reply

"I'm sorry Mr Maddox, I'll call next time." She says and I nod

"You done giving that sweet girl shit? I want some damn gin." I hear my grandmother yell from the living room

"Coming Mrs Maddox." Amy calls as she pours the gin

"Stop calling me that it's Greta." My grandmother replies.

"Now what's got you all wound up?" She asks as I sit on the couch next to her recliner

"Nothing, I'm just worrying about you and the shop is really busy." I reply

"Well stop your damn worrying I didn't make it to ninety three for nothin'" She says as she places her hand on my arm

"Besides I did raise you if you remember?"

"How could I forget Nonna?" I smile.

"My handsome boy." She smiles

"Now tell me what's going on at the parlour."

Luckily I had a few hours free this afternoon so I left Evie and Ace at the shop so I could spend some time with my grandmother. We've always been close since she raised me pretty much all my life. Apparently my mom couldn't handle the lifestyle and left when I was four, but my grandmother had been helping out with me for a long time before that. My dad tried his best but he was a member of the club and wasn't around much either. When I was five he was killed in an accident so my grandparents took me in permanently. It was only when I prospected for the club did Killers dad Thrasher tell me the truth about my fathers death, that he was killed by a rival MC. Although my grandma raised me Thrasher was always around because he was close with my dad.

My grandmother was furious when I told her I'd joined the Broken Demons, because it got her only child killed, but she let it go after a while, and a damn good beatdown. She's the strongest woman I know, she came from Italy with her family in the 1930's when she was only a kid and didn't speak a word of English, she's buried her son, her husband and raised me. I can't imagine how hard it was to take care of a little kid in her sixties, I wasn't exactly easy, I went through my rebellious phase and was brought home in a cop car a few times. I was always more scared of Nonna than the cops though.

"You know what you need?" She says

"You need a damn good women to put your head on straight."

"Nonna, come on, I don't need a woman when I have you." I smirk and she laughs

"Well I ain't going no where until I see some great gran babies running around. Next time I go to bingo I'll ask the girls about their granddaughters, I'll hook you a winner." She smiles making me laugh

"How about some music?" She asks

"What do you feel like today?" My grandmother used to be a music teacher, so music was a big part of my life growing up, but due to arthritis she can't play the piano anymore

"How about Dean?" She asks and I pull out the vinyl before setting up the record player. I set up a sound system for her but she insists everything sounds better on vinyl. Return to me begins to play and Nonna waves her hands in time with the music.

"Retorna me, Cara mia ti amo, Solo tu, solo tu, solo tu, solo tu, Mio cuore." She sings along before the song ends

"I gotta get back to the shop I have a late appointment, I'll see you tomorrow Nonna." I say as I lean down and she kisses my cheeks

"No wonder I'm not a great grandmother, no girl will come near you with that beard scratching at their thighs!" She says gently slapping my cheeks and I laugh

"See ya Nonna." I call

"Ciao my boy." She smiles. I head out and climb on my motorcycle before riding back to the shop.

"Hey." Evie smiles as I enter the back door into the kitchen.

"You just missed Addy and her niece, she seems nice." Evie adds "I wouldn't be surprised is Addy tries to get you to hire her niece for the front desk."

Great, just what I need, a troubled teen coming to mess up the place.

Sure enough I find myself at Scars after my evening appointment with Addy in my ear about hiring her niece

"I swear, she's a sweet girl, she's really organised and she got top grades in high school." Addy says over the loud music

"But didn't you just say she got fired from her last job?" I reply

"Yeah, But she swears it wasn't her fault and I believe her. She worked in a bakery and I remember the old cow that runs it, so I'm sure it wasn't her fault."

"Just meet her at the party on Saturday, I'm sure once you get to know her you'll be happy to hire her."

"Fine I'll meet her, but I'm not promising anything. There's a lot of important paperwork involved so I need some one serious." I sigh

"Yay! You won't regret it." She says before pulling me into a hug.

"Next rounds on me." She smiles before standing and heading to the bar

"To be fair, she is a nice girl, I don't think you'd have any trouble on your hands if you hired her and kept Addy happy." Doc says leaning over

"I'll think about it." I nod

"Your funeral if you don't." Doc shrugs smirking. Adeline is a pain in the ass, but she's a damn good friend and asset to the club.

"I swear Needles, I spent all day with her and she just wants a fresh start, give my girl a chance and you won't regret it, and I'll buy the drinks." Adeline says as she sits down with another tray of shots. I don't think I'm going to get a choice here, but I guess there's no harm in giving her a shot.
