"She already thinks that," Erwin sighs. "Jean Kirschstein has effective battle strategy and judgement, said to be very loyal to his comrades."

"I don't trust him."

"You will never trust anyone but yourself to protect her," he grumbles, but then Erwin raises a questioning eyebrow. "They're friends, aren't they?" Levi glares at him. "So she will trust him. Excellent."

"That Arlert brat," Levi starts, crossing his arms. "He's friends with Jaeger. I saw her talking to him. He knows how to talk. He must be smart. Put him in a squad with her and the other two. I'll talk to all three of them later."

Erwin smiles at his concern for her. "As you say, Captain."

After being reunited (somewhat) with her best friend Levi, Nora's life as a soldier had in fact picked up.

She talked to more people, understood the Survey Corps strategy better, and for the most part, interacted in a team much better.

Now, at the day of the expedition, a sense of giddy nervousness spread through her, and as she watched the gates that led to the Titan infested Wall Maria, she couldn't help but feel an ominous dread rush in her heart.

"Braun, Kirschstein, Arlert, Westfield," one of the more veteran Corps members announces. "The four of you are right flank."

She feels a hand clasp her shoulder. "We're together!" Armin says happily, smiling at her. "I don't know where Mikasa is. But I think Eren is with the Captain."

"I'm just happy to be with someone I know," she replies with a soft smile.

"Nora!" Jean calls her. "I see you found Armin. Where's Reiner?"

"Right here," the extremely well built soldier says, walking over to the other three. The three boys in the group exchange sideways glances at one another.

"Soldiers!" Commander Erwin announces, looking at all of the members in front of him. "We are about to embark on our expedition beyond the walls. I ask that everyone find the people assigned to their group and get ready to leave."

A nervous amount of energy flows through Nora, and in response, she simply laughs.

"Don't tell me Nora's going crazy right before we're about to leave," Jean groans.

"I'm sorry," she says, trying to hold back her laughter. "I just couldn't help thinking that this is finally it. Four years of training for this one mission."

"Westfield," the monotone voice of Levi says, appearing at her side.
