These hands
Have held on to
What broken shards of hope
They could find
And these arms
Have borne the weight
Of life crashing down
On the shoulders
In inky strands of fate
But these hips
These hips have been able
To sway in stride of it all
And these thighs are capable
Of sending thunder
Down the folds of mountains
And these legs can run
Past the chasing tidal waves
Of powerlessness
Because through all the quaking
Nerves that shake through my hands
And the flood water flowing down my cheeks
This body has withstood all harm
Both small and large
From all my natural disasters
And though my brain be overrun
By bouts of mudslides
She rises above it all
Through every shallow breath
Until the lungs may once again
Be thirsty enough
To swallow that living air
And the heart that thrums
With the throws of pain
May finally be fed
The joy of knowing
That it is just enough
As it is
As this body is
And as this mind and soul are
- Enough.
