BACKSTORY — Maeum is the oldest of two, older by four years to her younger sister. She grew up in a poor neighborhood with a mother and father until the age of five when her father had left for reasons still unknown to her. Her mother struggled to raise her two daughters but managed, taking on multiple jobs to raise enough money to move during Maeum's teen years. She entered the School of Performing arts all while signing with BigHit. Once done with school, Maeum joined Bighit full time in the hopes of being a solo artist but her debut was pushed back once the idea of a boy group was considered. With her skill complimenting with the male group, Maeum joined what would become BTS but didn't debut physically until the Boy in Luv era only appearing in vocals prior. Since then Maeum has dedicated her life to her role in the group as well as to the seven members whom she loves.
