Clint and Natasha left Rhodey and Nebula at Morag. They took off in the spaceship for Vormir. Clint laughed as they travelled light years through space. "This is a long way from Budapest."

Natasha shook her head as she laughed. "I can't believe you brought that stupid chicken."

"His name is Kregsby!"

They finally made it to Vormir. It was a desolate planet with huge, dark hills and a lake so calm that it looked like a void. Sand dunes made up a part of the land, and they knew that from the tallest, most broody looking mountain, that the Soul Stone would be there.

"Under different circumstances, this would be totally awesome," Clint murmured. They began their trek to the mountain, chatting along the way. It began snowing as they climbed up the rocky pathway.

Natasha sighed. "I bet the raccoon didn't have to climb a mountain."

"Technically, he's not a raccoon." Clint breathed heavily

"Whatever. He eats garbage."

A dark entity floated to them, and Clint picked the right time to let out a shriek before quieting himself. He honestly thought it was a horror movie come to life. And he brought a katana to a floating contest. They brought out their weapons at it.

"Welcome," It said. "Natasha, daughter of Ivan. Clint, son of Edith."

They advanced slowly.

"Who are you?" Nat asked.

"Consider me a guide. To you, and to all who seek the Soul Stone."

"Okay," Clint said, "you tell us where it is. Then we'll be on our way."

"If only It were that easy."

"Of course, he'd say that," Clint muttered.

The being came into the light, revealing Red Skull—Steve's old enemy. He led them to the cliff of the mountain where runes and lines were carved into the stone floor. His black cape danced behind him in wisps. The red sun looked like it was always setting, and its rays didn't seem to reach the mountain.

"What you seek lies in front of you, as does what you fear."

Natasha stepped to the edge. It was rocky and there was another stone floor with the same runes carved into it. "The Stone is down there."

"For one of you," Red Skull said, "for the other, in order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love. An everlasting exchange. A soul for a soul."

The next few minutes ended up with Natasha brooding on a rock, while Clint waved at Red Skull and tried to chat him up. He let out a nervous chuckle that Skull didn't find any humor in.

"Jesus..." Clint muttered as he returned to Nat. "Maybe he's making this shit up."

"No, I don't think so."

"Why, because he knows your daddy's name?"

"That came out wrong, Clint." She stifled a laugh. "But yes. Because I didn't know his name. Thanos left here with the Stone, but without his daughter. It's not a coincidence."

Clint nodded somberly. He knew Natasha. He knew her too well, and he knew exactly what she was thinking.

"Whatever it takes," she whispered.

Clint looked to the edge. "Whatever it takes."

When she looked back at him, she got up. "If we don't get that stone, billions of people stay dead."

"Then I guess we both know who it's going to be."

"I guess we do."

Clint gently caught her hand. "I'm starting to think we mean different people here, Natasha."
