Sorry for not updating! But there will be lots of great stuff in this chapter.
Taylor's POV:
I leave the stage immediately to go to the dressing room and change into my long gown. We slog through at least another half hour of a mixture of awards and performances, and then it's my turn to perform "I'll Be Fine". It hasn't even been released yet, so this is the first time everyone will hear it.
Meghan speaks into the microphone, "And now someone very special will be performing.... The one and only Taylor Swift!"
I run up to the stage as fast as I can in the gown I'm wearing, then put the microphone to my lips.
"This is a song that hasn't been released yet," I say. "It will be out directly after this performance."
The crowd, as far as I can see, looks puzzled. "It's called 'I'll Be Fine'", I explain. The crowd sighs and I can just barely hear the words "Breakup song" and "blame-game" and "Harry".
"It's not a diss song at all, it's just a reflection... On what was? What could have been?"
There's no more explaining to do. I just start singing the words into the microphone.
I hope you know, that I miss you;
And I hope you don't forget about me
And I hope you know, that I still see you
In the back of my mind, it's a thought that I'll always keep;
Because I still remember that day when you said you loved me (me, me)
You held my hand and I held yours too,
That was the day where I loved you (you, you)
And I thought we were forever, guess I was wrong
Or else I wouldn't be singing this song.
And even though you were mine, I'll be fine...
And I still remember it perfectly; (I remember it perfectly)
When you broke my heart
That January.
Some part of me
knows that I'm to blame,
And I don't know how but somehow I am,
And I know that you're no longer mine,
So I'll have to be fine (fine, fine, fine)
Oh, I'll have to be fine.
There is silence as I sing my song, as the words leave my lips. I know that I have once again left the crowd in awe.
I blow a kiss to the audience, something I haven't done since the Fearless era. Then I daintily walk offstage. Life is good. It really is.
I walk into a narrow hallway by the dressing rooms.
I sit down on the floor and sigh. Everything has gone as planned.
Someone runs down the hall. Red hair. Ed.
"Ed?" I ask. "What are you doing here?"
"I haven't been completely honest with you-"
"I haven't exactly been either..."
"Taylor," his voice shakes, and I can tell he needs to say something important.
"Yeah?"
"I don't love Nicole. You're the one I love. I only dated her to get over you, because I know you didn't love me-"
"Yes I did! Ed, I loved you so much-"
He pulls me up from the ground and his lips jam against mine.
