Still A Little Off

After Fury ordered Carrol to continue her spying on Thanos and his crew, Tony hosted the annual Avengers ball. Where close family, friends, employees of Avengers Head Quarters and Tower come together for a ballroom dance. It's where everything and anything can happen, you can be single and alone to taken and going to be a baby daddy or mom the next.

Tony loved this day every year, and of course, there are a few changes due to babysitting issues and leaving the babies alone for the first time. But he still enjoyed being alone with Pepper, without a screaming baby beside them at all times. And as usual, Tony always let's the boys invite their wives to the ball.

Clint loved this night, and he loved spending time with his family as he hardly ever does. As much as he loves them too, he also loves the Avengers and lives two lives at once. Even when the when the thought of retirement comes to his mind, he shivers. He knew his answer to everything if there is danger or life choices. He's always pick his family, after all, they're stuck with him since he's a mr. bird man!

Natasha, nor Steve, wanted to go. Neither did Gamora, especially when she wasn't in the same cell anymore. But anyways, Natasha wants her life to be normal for a few seconds, and Natasha loves Memories being drawn.

And still, Natasha knew deep down that Steve didn't fully remember everything. Yes, Steve did hold little Grant in his arms, and yes Steve dis remember little Grant when Natasha told him she was pregnant. But she knew that sometimes Steve would lie about he feel and that's why Natasha haven't let Steve out of his cell. She did, however, shave his beard and cut his hair a little shorter to how it always used to be.

"Natasha, is Steve good enough to come out of there?" Tony asked whole pointing at the door. Natasha sighed but shook her head.

"I don't know." She mumbled with uncertainty. Tony shrugged and opened the cell door revealing a confused and tired Steve Rogers.

"I thought I needed to be contained." Steve mentioned while slowly stepping out of the cell. He looked beside him at the cell that held Gamora. "What about her?"

"This is the Avengers annual ball, Gamora isn't a member and we don't trust her yet." Tony said. Steve nodded and Natasha laced her hands in his, they fit perfectly. Natasha needed to set aside her feelings though and focus on her mission. She needed to find everyone who worked for Thanos because it couldn't be just Steve and Gamora here on Earth. Don't get Natasha wrong, she loved Steve, sge really did. She wanted to drag Steve to her room in the Tower and kiss his soft lips.

"Do you trust me?" Steve asked Natasha. By then, Natasha was leading Steve to his old room. She blushed a bit, remembering her first time meeting Steve.

"Yes, always have and always will." Natasha replied. Steve smiled slowly. He still couldn't believe he was here with the girl in his dreams. Plus, knowing he was a father was still shocking to him. "There is your room, wear something nice and gel your hair back like you always do."

"It's a nursery." Steve said as he opened the door. Natasha didn't reply, she wanted Steve to see the nursery made for Grant.

Steve walked in looking at everything. Stuffed animals and pictures of Natasha and Grant through the many years he supposedly missed. Then there were pictures over the bed, a man in a star spangled banner like uniform. He held a shield in on hand and he looked determined to help anyone. There was also a mirror and Steve looked in it, and there he was. Steve realized that everything Thanos has told him was lies. He now had memories, flash before his eyes, many memories especially the ones with Natasha and the Avengers. He evenbbad memories of Margarot "Peggy" Carter. This, all of this, was also making Steve stressed. He started to feel unsure of himself. For a year, he murdered innocent people that he thought were evil to mankind, but now Steve saw himself as a monster.

Steve looked at the baby pictured and frowned. The feelings he started to get for Natasha and Grant grew stronger, and Steve knew that he couldn't stay with them. Well, he knew that he if he stayed in love with Natasha, something would happen to both his child and... fiance. Steve's heart twinged. He just came back, literally just got his memories back, and he'd hate to break his family up, but what else could he do. Now Steve had anxiety amd stress. He rubbed his head and continued to walk to his old closet and just picked out an old black tuxedo and changed into it slowly.

"I'm sorry Nat, I'm sorry but I can't do us anymore." Steve whispered as he looked at a picture of Natasha holding Grant. Steve wipped a tear away from his cheek and walked out of his... the nursery realizing Natasha wasn't with him. She must've left to change clotjes herself.

Which she did, and she wanted to look nice for Steve. Hopefully it'll just be her and Steve while everyone else is dancing on the floor. But Natasha knew that Steve still didn't remember everything and anything could happen.

So, Natasha took the elevator up to the penthouse of the Avengers Tower. Tony was babbling to a group of old friends about the tours taken here bt Avenger fans all over the world, which is probably why there are ropes cutting off the public from certain rooms.

Natasha went straight towards the bar and asked for a margarita. She missed drinking, not like that, but she missed the freedom feeling it have her.

"Nat, how are you doing today?" A man's voice echoed behind Natasha. She turned around to see an old love, way back when she started S.H.I.E.L.D.

"James? What are you doing here?" Natasha asked surprised.

First chapters are fairly action packed as we are wasting no time to jump into the good stuff. Steve finally remembered everything, but now he doesn't want to be with Natasha because he doesn't want to hurt her. Is it his stress or just his feelings or both? Natasha's ex-lovee is back, could he be a main character? Ooof we have a lot of action coming your way!
