Chapter 13

It's 3 Am and Maheen is helping her Mom in making sehri.

Maheen: Mumma I'm going to pray tahjudd call me if you need any thing
Her mother nods in response

They all settled at the dining table and the time is 4.30 when they finished by their sehri.Both mother and daughter went to pray fajr salah and her father went to masjid for the prayer. And it was 6.30 and after reading Quran Maheen placed the Quran sharif in the shelf and she was about to go to sleep when her phone rings. Its Kulsum

Maheen: Assalamalaikum Kulsum subha subha kaise yaad karna hua hame(What happened that you are remembering me this early morning)

Kulsum: Walaikumasslam Maheen. Can't i call my bestie.

Maheen: Ok ok drama Queen I was just teasing you

Kulsum: Ok ok maaf kiya. What are you doing Yaar. Don't know how will I stay hungry all the day

Maheen: Haha stop with your drama i know you love to keep fast and you know by fasting we can attain taqwa.

Kulsum: yess yaar i know the importance of ramadan. And yeah come early in the evening

Maheen: Yes baba i will
They chat for sometime

In the evening at farooqi's house:

The ladies were in the kitchen preparing food for the iftar and the men were in the lawn discussing about politics, sports like that.

Kulsum: Excuse me gentlemen May I have your attention please

Arham: phirse drama shuru🙄(Again her drama started)

Kulsum:Bhai did you just call me a Drama Queen(she glared at him)

Murad: Kulsum beta tell me what's the matter

Kulsum: oh yes I came here to call you all for iftar

They all went in the dining hall for the iftar

Arham: The smell is awesome. I'm hungry. What's special for today's iftar

Kulsum: We prepared so many dishes bhai

All settled themselves for iftar and they breaks their fast after that all women went to pray and men went for masjid for magrib prayer

After sometime

All were gathered in the living room and Kulsum is serving tea to everyone

Arham's family exchange glances with each other. And it was observed by Nawab khan(Maheen's father)

Nawab: What happened Yaar murad something is bothering you right.

Murad: Yes you are right but everything is alright

Nawab: If everything is fine then why are you worried

Murad: Ok listen carefully what I'm going to say
We all know what happened yesterday and I'm happy that this proposal got cancelled

Nawab: Yeah they are not right my daughter. She is the Apple of my eye. I don't know if they keep her happy or not. And I'm happy too that this whole proposal thing got cancelled.

Murad: Ok I want to ask you something. What do you think of Arham

Kulsum slams her forehead after listening her dad's question

Salma: Kulsum i think we have to do something. Your father is so much tensed like he is going to a Warfield
And she is about to say something when her husband interrupts her

Murad: Ok listen Yaar i want to ask Maheen's hand in marriage for my son Arham. And don't worry about her studies if you accept this proposal we will make them marry after her studies and I can guarantee you that we will treat her like our daughter not as dil

Arham: I will treat her as my Queen(he mumbled)

The Khan's family were shocked after listening this.

Nawab: What can I say I'm shocked after listening you and about Arham I know he is a gem and I also knows that you will treat her like your daughter. And my daughter will be lucky to have Arham as her better half

Arham: No uncle I'll be the lucky one to have Maheen as my better half
Maheen blushes after hearing Arham's reply

Zainab: We should ask Maheen's consent

Maheen: Mumma papa I'll be happy with your decision i know you both will choose the best for me

Murad: Yaar tell me about your final decision

Nawab: Ok we will tell about our decision after we reached home

After reaching their house Nawab khan discussed with his family for sometime

Zainab: I'm sure Arham will keep our daughter happy. Call them and tell them that we are happy with this proposal.

Nawab: Ok i'll call them and yeah I think we will make them engaged after Eid ul fitr

Zainab: Yes you are right
(Maheen ye sab kuch khamoshi se sun rahi thee aur jab vo Arham ka naam sun rahi thee ek ajeeb sa ehsaas uske dil mein jaag uththa thaa)
An unknown feelings rests in Maheen's heart when she hears Arham's name

Maheen's father called Arham's parents and told them about their decision and it was decided that their engagement will take place after Eid ul fitr

Tahjudd: It's also called the "night prayer" is a voluntary prayer performed by the followers of Islam. It is not one of the five obligatory prayers
"The dua made at tahajjud is like an arrow which doesn't miss its target"

Suhoor/sehri: It's an Islamic term referring to the meal consumed in the morning by Muslims before fasting, before dawn

Iftar: It's the evening meal with which Muslims end their fast at sunset.

Eid ul fitr: The Muslim festival marking the end of the month of Ramadan. Eid ul fitr has a particualr salat (Islamic prayer)consisting of two rakats(units)
