(Y/N) was peacefully watching the water flow down from the cliff and into the stream. Her hand rested next to her and was delicately encased by a warm, larger hand. She turned to look at her suitor, his attention fully concentrated on her. His blue eyes were captivating and his long blonde locks so silky. Legolas was the most kind and handsome ellon she had ever met and she could not believe he was all hers.

(Y/N)'s bliss was interrupted by some pounding, but she could not figure out where the sound was coming from. It sounded like someone was hitting wood. It was knocking. (Y/N) jerked up in her bed and opened her eyes. Darn, she was just dreaming. KNOCK KNOCK. The knocking continued, meaning the knocking was real.

(Y/N) rushed to put her robe around her and opened the door to see a flustered prince standing in her door frame.

"My lady, I'm sorry if I wakened you, but I thought we could take a stroll in the gardens. It's most beautiful at this time in the morning," Legolas suggested.

The only thing (Y/N) could think about was how embarrassed she was at her appearance. She must look exhausted and a mess after just woken up and with uncombed hair. "Of course, I just need a moment to put some proper attire on," she replied motioning to her robe and nightgown.

"Of course," Legolas blushed, trying not to look at her clothing. "I'll wait for you by the entrance to the gardens."

Once (Y/N) had gotten ready, she skipped all the way to the gardens where she was met by a big smile and bright eyes. Legolas offered his arm and (Y/N) gratefully accepted it.

They walked in a comfortable silence for a few moments until (Y/N) spoke, "There is no need for formalities."

"Huh?" Legolas could not figure out what she was referring to.

(Y/N) giggled at his unprincely response. "Earlier you called my 'my lady'." Legolas nodded now following the conversation. "It's just (Y/N) as it was when we were elflings."

Legolas smiled, "I gather I am not the only one that hopes our friendship still exists."

"Why of course," (Y/N) gasped, "I value your friendship greatly despite the centuries we've spent apart. Besides, I don't see any event that has caused any divergence between us." There was a small pause as Legolas waited for an addition to her thoughts, seeing as she was contemplating whether to keep sharing. They stopped and (Y/N) turned to face Legolas, "You are the only one that understood me, and still understands me. I never have and will never want to be a lady. I want adventure, not a life written for me where I follow a script."

Legolas could not stop looking at her in deep admiration. She did not become what others wanted her to be; rather, she wanted to follow her heart. "You have always been that way, ever since we were elflings. Whatever your mother would say, you would defy. It was very amusing to watch," he laughed, "but it also showed a strong heart. For however long you stay, I promise I will not allow you to do anything involving royal duties or acting like a lady. I understand your thoughts, my duties can be constraining, which can be hard when you know there is a whole world out there waiting to be explored." He looked off into the distance, and as a thought came to his head he smirked and looked back towards (Y/N). "Come." Legolas grabbed her hand and led her back to the palace.

(Y/N) could not believe he was holding her hand. She was so shocked that she was not looking where she was going. After nearly tripping over a rock, she shook herself and paid attention to where she was going. No need for any embarrassing falls.

They entered the throne room. It was empty, making the room seem larger than normal with Thranduil's throne towering above everything else.

"Have you ever wondered what it's like to sit on the throne of your kingdom?" Legolas asked.
