Welcome to my take on the Overwatch lore! This is a continuous story so I recommend you to start from the beginning. Votes and comments are highly appreaciated, I love reading your thoughts. :)
It takes place during the Overwatch/Blackwatch era and...
The last battle had been rough. The mission did not go as planned and unfortunately there had been civilian casualties. It was late in the evening and Gabriel was sitting on the bed in his room in the Overwatch quarters.
He groaned while painfully removing his gear, looking down at his bruised body, slowly moving his arms and clenching his beat up fists as if to check that they were still working.
He stood up and walked to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, seeing dirt and blood on his face and in his black hair, not sure if it was his own or someone else's. With his entire body aching it was hard to tell.
He began to wash up, reflecting on the day. As leader of the Blackwatch team he knew that Jack was going to bite his head off tomorrow over the failure of this mission. Unfortunately his team was new and not used to working together. They were skilled fighters but two of them were way too young and undisciplined for a mission like this. Gabriel deep down knew that but still he had insisted on taking them. He wanted to prove what Blackwatch could do and it had backfired. Hard.
He finished washing up, changed into his sleeping boxers and went to bed. He knew he had been harsh on the young boys in the team, screaming at them... he even punched the young cowboy off his legs.
Perhaps he shouldn't have done that, but that boy needed to learn to take orders. He needed to learn that this is not a game. He needed to grow up. Gabriel's mind was conflicted but after a while he fell asleep.

Gabriel flew out of bed. A gut wrenching scream had woken him up.
He quickly grabbed his guns and ran out in the dark hallway. He met Angela and Moira who had also been woken up by the scream.
"What is going on!? " Angela asked, clearly shaken.
Gabriel looked around, trying to locate the sound and slowly walked down the corridor towards the agonizing screams. He stopped outside Jesse's door.
"Go back to sleep," he said with a sigh. "I will handle this".
He slowly opened the door to Jesse's room and found the boy sitting in his bed with his arms around his knees shaking and crying.
Gabriel put his guns on a dresser, closed the door and walked up to the bed. He sat down next to Jesse and put a hand on his shoulder. The boy flinched back and let out a scream.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! Oh my God, those kids, what have I done?!"
Gabriel lowered his head and felt ashamed. If the battle was hard on him, what had it done to the young ones? He was a seasoned fighter and had seen a lot, but it never occurred to him that these things were new to these boys. He had been so busy being angry at them that he forgot to pick them up and make sure that they were ok afterwards. The ninja seemed to handle it better, he didn't show any emotions going back to the base. His eyes were always dark and his personality composed. Gabriel knew he had been through a lot in his past and seemed more used to war and the gruesomeness that comes with it. Jesse on the other hand had sat in a corner of the plane, staring at the wall, not looking at Gabriel the entire flight back. He had figured that he was probably just upset for being disciplined like that in front of his team.
