Chapter 6: Let's heal each other

"Okay, you all are dismissed." The head of the counseling group said and everyone left the room.

You and the smiling boy walked towards the cafeteria together.

"You know," he started. "I think this is the happiest I've been in a long time. I'm not saying I'm not having hard times anymore, it's just... I don't know, my cheeks even hurt sometimes from smiling too much."

"Glad we're on the same page." You said. "This is the most I've smiled on a long time, and I like it. I don't want to be like this forever, I want to be happy."

He suddenly stopped and stepped in front of you, holding out his pinky. "Then let's make a promise. Let's heal each other. Let's heal together."

You smiled and nodded, interlacing your pinky with his.

That was a beginning of a promise you'd both break.
