God's Imagination

So what does God's imagination look like?

Genesis 1:26 NKJV
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

God used His imagination as He spoke by creating us in His image, according to His likeness. When I read this scripture it helps me understand, and realize the power of God's imagination. This is because God just didn't create man and that was it, No He said, “Let's create man in our image and our likeness.” The reason why this Scripture is so powerful, because we see how God's way of thinking is infinite when we say something we think of first, then we start to try to fulfil that thought. That pattern came from God first. It made me think about how God had a thought first before saying it into existence. So when God said He made us in His image and likeness, we see that on how we think and then act on that thought. Now this makes so much more sense of why we need a positive atmosphere around us, so our thoughts will be pure and positive. God is the Creator of all things, and could have only done that because of positivity and not because negativity. We read and find this positivity right in the beginning of the Bible.

Genesis 1:1-5 NKJV
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So, the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:9-10 NKJV
Then God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:11-12 NKJV
Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:16-18 NKJV
Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21-22 NKJV
So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."

These are just a number of Scriptures that show the amazing wonders of what God has done. Don't just take my word for it, read about these wonders within the Bible, you will discover how awesome God’s imagination truly is. In Genesis we read about how awesome and incredible God truly is – how God is the Creator of all things. So if we are created in the image of God, what does that make us then? Are we creators as well? I like to put it this way, God is the Creator with a capital( C ), and we are creators with a lower case( c ).

This is why I believe this, God created all the fish in the sea, animals on the land, the birds in the sky. God has put His imagination on the inside of us, giving us that ability to create life as well, by having children. Does it just stop there with creating life, no it doesn’t. God used His imagination and created the heavens and the earth, the stars and planets, the land and the sea. Once again God's imagination is on the inside of us - we create homes, bridges, forms of transport and so much more. Everything that God has done we end up doing without even knowing. Of course this is not at the level of God's creative imagination and power, but we copy our Father in heaven. God worked for six days and then He rested on the seventh. As children of God we do the same and we work. Whatever our jobs may be, at the end of a hard day's work we rest. Yes we have our days mixed up and now work weekends, but the principle still stays the same though we usually work five to six days and then need to rest. God worked and then rested, we worked and then rested. The word rest simply means to recover one's strength or relax. When we know that we have done an honest hard day's work, we feel good inside only because this is pleasing to God. In the book of Genesis, when God had seen what He had done He said, “He saw and it was good”. Everything that God has done and is doing, we do the same without even considering it. We simply copy our Father in heaven, our children do the same on earth, they try to copy every action that we do. This is because we are created in God's image, so is it not important that we need to consider how we act around our children. Jesus Christ said that He can do nothing of Himself, but He only does what He sees God do.

John 5:19 NKJV
Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

God's imagination is a part of us more than we know, and is on the inside of us – when we act on the will of God, we can begin to do the impossible, accomplishing difficult tasks. Accomplishing every goal that we set out to do in our lives, having hopes, visions and dreams of how God can fulfil our every desire. I thank God every day, not just for turning myself away from my sinful ways, then giving me the desires of my heart. I thank God for being such a loving Father, who helps me in all situations. We need to see and picture God this way, that He truly is our Father in heaven and we are members of His body. The image of God is beyond compare

Isaiah 6:1-4 NKJV
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

When I read about how Isaiah saw God, it opened my imagination, as I pictured God now as truly mighty, making my imagination run wild. It makes me see the wonders and Glories of God possible as I pictured Him this way. It also makes me see how awesome infinite our God is as His presence is beyond compare. Now when I lift up my prayers to God our Father, I realize that I am not just praying to my Father in Heaven, I am praying to the all Mighty God, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth and all living creatures, including all humankind. Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord our God, who was and is and is to come.
