Tristan sighed and lay back down in a huff. It took a solid fifteen minutes to convince himself to actually get out of bed.
Still, every time he closed his eyes, he saw his innocent sister, his caring mother, and his good for nothing poor excuse of a father.
The memories of what he did in his old life haunted him. Does he regret some of the terrible things he did? A little. Would he change those things if he had the chance? No, probably not.
He could try, but he would end up doing the same damn thing.
Tristan could never change. He was always going to be devilish.
There was no turning that around.
After Tristan was dressed in his black attire, he realized he was late for school. He was a rebel, not a slacker, so he still felt the need to be at school on time.
It was too late to do anything but teleport, so he did exactly that. He arrived seconds later in the middle of the parking lot. He had to dodge a jeep to avoid getting run over.
Straightening his shirt, Tristan headed inside and immediately started seeking out Kenzie Coleman.
Tristan turned a corner and collided with someone. "Shit, watch where you're going, idiot," he spat, holding a hand to his forehead.
"...sorry," the person murmured.
That voice...
Tristan looked up and saw Kyle from yesterday. He was a tall kid. Tristan was tall himself but Kyle was about two inches taller, maybe six four.
"...just, watch it," Tristan mumbled, walking away.
A few minutes later, Tristan saw Alex, Evan and Mike at Alex's locker.
"Morning boys," Tristan said, arriving beside them.
Alex immediately held out his hand. Tristan sighed and reached into his jacket pocket. He grabbed Alex's share of the money they snagged yesterday and handed it to him. "No hello?" he asked sarcastically.
"No," Alex replied flatly.
Tristan laughed then gave Mike his money.
"You two make it outta there alright?" Tristan asked Alex and Mike.
"It was easy," Mike said, his dark brown eyes seemed to dance with pride, "Not a single hitch."
"Good for-"
"Hot girls, nine o'clock!" Alex interrupted, excitement bubbling in his voice.
Tristan quickly pulled Alex to him and whispered a pick up line in his ear.
Alex looked at him curiously and Tristan nodded. The girl crazy boy cleared his throat. "Hey!" he said, stopping the two girls.
He looked the blonde dead in the eyes and said, "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?"
The blonde laughed then glanced at Tristan before looking back at Alex. "No," she mused, "but I scraped my knee crawling up from hell."
Alex's winning smile dropped.
The blonde looked at Tristan. Her aura dropped for just a millisecond and Tristan saw her red eyes and the pure evil boiling off of her skin. The blonde devil regained her aura as quickly as she let it go and winked at Tristan before walking away with her friend.
Alex glared at Tristan. "That was low, dude."
"No," Evan piped, "you're just that repulsive."
Alex shoved Evan lightly then walked off, muttering some pretty colourful curse words under his breath.
Tristan laced his fingers behind is head, just as he saw Kenzie -looks like she woke up- hurrying past. That gave him an idea.
Tristan made sure to get to the cafeteria for lunch a little early. Eventually, people started crowding in, sitting at tables with their friends and digging into their food.
The devil was at a small table with Alex, Evan, and Mike. They were chatting while Tristan was watching students come in through the cafeteria doors. Soon enough, Kenzie walked in. First she got her lunch on a tray then looked around and smiled when she saw Erin.
Kenzie started walking towards the angel. As she was doing so, Tristan chose a guy sitting at an upcoming table. As Kenzie walked past that guy, Tristan willed his leg to kick out.
Kenzie tripped and Tristan felt Erin's light magic in the air. Sadly, Kenzie didn't fall face first into her food (thanks to Erin), but she did still fall. Her tray was only a few feet away. "So close," he mumbled.
Yet it wasn't a total loss because the people around her were laughing. Erin was there quickly, helping Kenzie to her feet.
Erin and Kenzie were talking but they were too far away for Tristan to hear them.
"Earth to Tristan," Mike said from beside him, "What're you looking at?"
Rolling his eyes in annoyance, Tristan turned to his friends to try and seem like he was part of the conversation. Even though he nodded and said yeah a few times, Tristan wasn't listening.
He was planning horrific things to make Kenzie's life more miserable then it already was.
