It's me again God,

How beautiful it is to sit with You and just be in Your presence! There are no words needed, the silence is so sweet! You know all of my thoughts before I even say a word and You just want to teach me as I look at Your Word today:

"They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, "What were you arguing about on the road?" But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.""
‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:33-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our culture seems to promote a me first attitude and it's clear from infancy that we all have a natural leaning toward egocentricity.  This changes as a child grows and develops —they are able to let others go first as they realise the world doesn't revolve around them! However, hiding inside ourselves is the little child who still seeks to be first and longs to be noticed! Jesus, it seems on this particular day, Your disciples were having issues with this very thing, having argued on the road about who was the greatest!

I love the way You called Your twelve disciples to sit with You, so You could teach them something about servanthood. Thank You Jesus that You came as a baby in lowly circumstances. Thank You that Your whole time here on earth demonstrated a servant heart for us to follow:

"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:5-11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lord nothing else needs to be said, Paul has expressed it so beautifully! I am so blessed to be able to know You personally and allow Your Holy Spirit to work in me as I seek to be more like You.  May I have Your mindset Jesus, in all my relationships, at all times.

For Your glory,
Amen.
