8. You Know Me So Well

It's me again God,

With the days of December quickly disappearing, I have been reflecting over the year and being thankful for the many blessings. You have provided me with so much and there have been so many happy times, however I have to be honest and say that there have been sad times, difficult times —situations that left me feeling quite low. These are not times that I would like to revisit but I am thankful that You were there for me:

"I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭40:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You delivered me every time and You were with me as I walked through those difficult places. Even when I felt afraid and uncertain, I turned my mind to the truth:

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The truth is that You are always with me and I hold onto that promise! Thank You that I have been able to declare Your Word over my life this past year and claim so many of Your wonderful promises, especially when difficulties arose! Thank You that I have been able to focus on Your precious thoughts:

"How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:17-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I don't think I have even begun to know what you think about everything but I have been so blessed just to focus on a few. I've come to realise that You will always know far more about me in comparison to what I know about You:

"You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:1-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I'm glad that You know me so well —even better than I know myself! My closest friends and family think they know me but You know the longings of my heart. You know when I smile but my heart is breaking. You know when grief threatens to spill over or doubts rise in my mind! You flood me with Your Words of truth and I find comfort.

Thank You that You know me so well but You do not ridicule me for the many times I make mistakes. Instead You lovingly but firmly guide me:

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake."
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭23:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Thank You for being with me as I journeyed throughout 2018. My heart is filled with thanksgiving and praise to You because You never let me down! You are so good! I will sing 'King of My Heart' from Bethel worship to remind me of this!
