XV. coffee date of some sort

Start from the beginning

'why the hell is this guy so obsessed with talking to me today? i've seen him around here and there, why does he care so much?' taeyong thought.

"this is ridiculous. just let me leav-"

"not until you tell me something about yourself," jaehyun interrupted.

jaehyun didn't know why he was so interested in suddenly getting to know taeyong, there was no real reason. straight from the beginning of the year he had ruined jaehyun's life, so why was he so damn interested? you know what they say,

keep your friends close but your enemies closer.

taeyong was angry. he huffed and crossed his arms, slumping back into the booth chair.

'this is so stupid' he thought again.

jaehyun copied taeyong's exact motions. he groaned, crossed his arms and then also sat back in the seat. he stared at taeyong.

silence. seconds of it. a consuming amount.

silence.

more silence.

even more silence.

taeyong couldn't take it anymore.

"my name is lee taeyong. i am twenty one years old and my best friend is named yuta nakamoto. i have a scar next to my right eye," he mumbled. jaehyun sat up.

"i used to scratch at it when i was younger. it eventually became a scar. it kinda just stands out," he stated.

taeyong looked at jaehyun. he was staring right into his eyes.

"i always wondered.." jae whispered. taeyong's cheeks became slightly similar to a blush.

'what the hell?'

embarrassed, taeyong tried to interrupt the eye contact.

"now, you tell me something about you, go." he asked jaehyun. jaehyun smiled. he straightened his posture, thinking.

"hmm.. my name is jung jaehyun. i'm twenty years old, my best friend is named yukhei. i've lived here practically my entire life and my favorite thing to do is play basketball." he said.

taeyong nodded.

'so i AM older,' he thought.

quiet. the amount of talking left undone made the atmosphere awkward. jaehyun had to change that.

"there's got to be more to you than just A+ grades and stealing my entire basketball career in one tryout, taeyong. what's something else?" jaehyun questioned.

taeyong took a long sip of his coffee. he pondered his own thoughts for a moment, wondering if he should even consider sharing these things with a stranger. after all, he's never really talked about himself with anybody besides yuta, nor did he really want to. letting his walls down and learning to talk about what he was truly thinking was always a challenge.

taeyong had no idea why, but something about jaehyun seemed..

trusting.

"ahh... back in my old university... i majored in performing arts. lyrical rapping, specifically. i was good at it," taeyong started with a smidge of sadness in his voice, "uh.. yeah. once yuta and i were paired to make a song together. he got to sing and i rapped. it's always been the thing i loved to do the most."

jaehyun nodded, admiring the boy's words.

"rapping to you is like basketball to me. we're both passionate. we have dreams. we have more in common than we think." jaehyun smirked.

"i hate you." // jaeyongWhere stories live. Discover now
