(this is where jaeyong really starts)

jaehyun

"i don't know. i have no idea what came over me. i just.. didn't do that well i guess." jaehyun said, speaking to yukhei. the two boys were walking through the hallways on the day after tryouts and yukhei finally figured it was time to ask jae why he performed the way he did.

"you've never done anything like that though. the whole team was surprised." yukhei expressed. jaehyun rolled his eyes. damn, this idiot. it seemed as though he was actually making fun of him.

yes, jaehyun has to admit. his work yesterday was nothing above poor. shooting, cardio, and training were all his strong suits, yet he was worse than the entire team combined. this was the worst way to start off the season.

"shut up." jaehyun said and frowned. he already knew today was going to suck, yet he didn't know why. he had the feeling.

the two cornered around the hallway, almost reaching the destination of first period. rounding the corner, however, jaehyun spotted a gorgeous seulgi talking to a group of girls by the staircase. long hair and glossy lips she stood, next to her friends juhyun, sooyoung, and yerim.

jaehyun stopped and swooned over the sight.

yukhei looked at his friend. he saw where the boy was staring and rolled his eyes.

"i'm gonna go, jae. have fun with.. whatever you're doing," yukhei said, patting jaehyun's shoulder, turning to leave the boy.

jaehyun nodded.

"yeah, sure," he breathed out, completely distracted and oblivioius to the missing yukhei next to him. god, he was so in love with seulgi. she was the world's most beautiful woman, had an iq higher than the sky, and was kinder than a saint. she was the whole package and jaehyun couldn't be happier she felt the same about himself.

yet, after all of these years, neither have made any advance towards each other. not one single date was planned. no hang out at the movie theaters, or meal enjoyed at a restaurant together. only mere crushes were seen through their perspectives. but, this was the year for change. jaehyun was finally going to ask out kang seulgi. finally.

just the thought of them together brought a small flush to jae's face.

after a final glance at the girl, jaehyun observed the whole group peering over the top of the stairs, looking to see what was on the bottom. each one was immensely intrigued at what was traveling up the steps, squealing louder as seconds passed.

"go, seulgi!" yerim exclaimed, pushing her friend over to the top step of the case. seulgi turned back to the girls and giggled, embarrassed. the group started shouting words of encouragement.

confused, jaehyun took a step forward. he began walking in her direction, until his legs came to an abrupt stop.

'what the hell?' jae thought.

suddenly, at the very top of the stairs, stepped a slim, black-haired taeyong. stood with elegance and grace taeyong approached kang seulgi, cocking an eyebrow. the man looked insanely handsome this morning, skin glowing and hair groomed to perfection. this aura reflected onto seulgi's reaction.

'what are they doing?' jaehyun pondered, feeling a sudden urge rise through his system. he saw some words escape off seulgi's lips directed to the man, too inaudible for jaehyun to hear.

he nodded, expressionless, and returned a comment to her, slightly shifting from one foot to the next as he did so.

"..you were amazing! i've never seen anyone play that good before," seulgi said in jaehyun's earshot. why was she saying this?
