Harmony left her life at the country to get her business degree in hopes of finding the perfect job after.
She was fresh out of college when went for an interview at the Rivers Industry in hopes of getting that secretary job until she can impress th...
"I can't hire you, Ms. Green." He said to close the file. A file that I spent preparing so it could be perfect, and one look at it, and he says he can't hire me. I waited two hours and fifteen minutes to get in here for him to tell me this.
I was shocked, and I know it was showing on my face. "Why?" I breathe. It was the only thing I could get out of my mouth.
"You're not qualified." He replied. With no explanation, he just tells me that I am not qualified.
"But I am, Sir." I defend.
"Let me explain it to you so you can understand. You have no work experience as a secretary. You are better off applying for a different position in the company than my assistant. You'll be wasting your education and time answering phones and running errands for me." He gave me his reasons not to hire me. I can only see excuses. I know I have no experience as a secretary, but he could pass that small, missing piece.
"But this is the only opening in your company. I am a fast learner, and I need this job." I plead.
"I'm sorry, Ms." He pause. It was obvious he didn't remember my last name, so I filled him in. "Yes, Ms. Green but I can't hire you." He said, his tone telling me it's final, but I wasn't going to give up. I have waited two hours and fifteen minutes, and I'm not living here until I get the job.
"But sir..." He didn't let me finish.
"No." He cut me off before I could plead my case again.
"But..." Again, I didn't get it out.
"Ms.. Green I am sure other companies would love to have you as an asset, but I can't hire you, and I'm sorry, but that's my final answer." He said.
This piece of sh*t had me waiting outside his office for hours, and this is what I got. I bet it's because I don't dress like the other women. Maybe it's because I am not putting my assets on display for the jerk. He didn't look through my well-planned-out documents. I bet he didn't read any of it. What a douchebag.
"Fine," I said through gritted teeth. Breathe Harmony; don't let him know that he got to you. "Thank you and good day," I said, ready to leave his office before I lost it. I took up my purse and stood up, but before I could take up my file and walk out of his office, he called me.
"Ms. Green." He paused.
"Yes, Mr. Rivers," I answered.
"Sit." I didn't want to do it since he ordered me, but I did anyway and sat back down. This jerk better not do anything to piss me off.
I sat there and waited for him to talk. I watched him with narrowed eyes, and when he took my file and threw it in the bin beside his desk, it caused me to glare at him now. I was angry now. I spent most of my time preparing that for it to be thrown in a rubbish bin. He's on my hate list now.
"Let's make a deal." He started as he intertwined his fingers together, putting his hands on the desk and leaning forward.
"A deal?" I asked, and he nodded. "What type of deal do you want to make, Mr. Rivers?" I asked suspiciously.
"Just an easy one." I raised an eyebrow at that. "You see, I come from a wealthy family. I added wealth to my wealth. I am a businessman, and recently people started asking questions. When will I get married? I told them when I found the one. The truth is, I don't want to get married. I have never thought of getting married. I don't want to be tied to one woman, but I couldn't tell the people that that would be bad for business. Everyone on the board agrees that if I get married, it will boost the company's sales. A boost in company sales means more money coming in, and the more money I make, the richer I get. You understand where I am going with this, don't you? "I stayed quiet, so he continued. "Recent news says I have a competition, and I hate having competition, so this marriage deal will put me on top, and when this company is on top, it will never come back down."
"And why are you telling me this?" I asked.
"Because you are the one."
